I have seen so many times on YA - things like 'if Christians actually followed Jesus' teachings would non-Christians respect them more'......or 'All muslims are terrorists'.....etc etc

Do you judge people by one person's standards or actions?

i.e. if one 'Christian' does it - they all do it

discipleabct - sorry but that's not really answering the question though is it. I am not asking how Jesus acts and thinks - I am asking how you (and others) act and think. I personally find it very sad that people generalise and 'band' people into one category and assume that 'they are all like that' that is just so short-minded

..and I notice the responses are not quick in coming. Hopefully people will think about this.

I don't judge any one group by what I see from one person. I have one set of standards that I go by, and that is Bible based standards.

You cannot judge all Christians by what one or a few may do. Even as Christians, we are still human and still are prone to messing up. It is just our nature. The same can be said for any group of people.

I always hear the excuse that people give for not going to church being "there are too many hypocrites there." Well...that may be true, but church is the best place a hypocrite can be.

Don't let one person ruin the message of Christianity.

Personally I do not. I tend to treat everyone as individuals no matter their religion, actions. standards etc

In a phlilosophy course, I also learnt that you cannot say for example:
David is a soldier
David is a thief
therefore all solidiers are thieves.
The premise is correct but the conclusion is very wrong.

So you cannot judge people by one person's actions or standards. Our level of reasoning and understanding is not the same.

each person has their own morals and beliefs in their religion. I don't judge them on that. If I have 2 Christian friends and one does what she wants when she wants but asks for forgiveness at the end of the day, and the other friend is on her knees asking God for forgiveness the very second she sins, I actually am amazed. I see that as being Christians they have their own individuality in the way they worship the lord.

If you confess to be a disciple or follower of Jesus the Christ, you must be able to understand His Words.
Hear His Words with Love in your heart, and think not of the problems of your body, or the cares of the world.

Jesus said, I judge no man, and then He said My Judgement is just.

Jesus judges no man, Jesus is not here to save the body, the body is only a house, it is your spirit that Jesus judges.
No one has ever died, not one person from the very foundation of the world has ever died. The body dies, but the body is not the life, that which dwell inside the body is the life.

Your spirit is "born again", over and over and over, and over, and over, and over, and over etc... Read Luke 11:24-26.
No new wine in old bottles.

No, you can't judge everyone by one person's standards. It's crippling and inhumane. However, some standards are absolute, like murder, rape, etc., but some are flexible. Christians should stop focusing on making the flexible ones concrete because it turns people away. Honey catches more flies than vinegar, that's for damn sure.

I try not to judge anyone. I have a standard to keep as a Christian so I dont want to judge anyone or harm anyone.

I judge everyone by my standards. In short, they're doing things I approve/disapprove of. I don't lump them into one big category though, if that's what I think you mean.

It bothers me that so many here do..It is dangerous. Look at history..Hitler, Stalin and the atrocities that happened were all brought about with this mind set. If you can dehumanise a group ..you can then feel free to exterminate them. We must learn to enjoy individuals for their diversity.

Generalising is pretty much the standard on here

undergo in concepts that Jesus got here to fulfill the regulation and not in any respect to remove it. God see sin as basically sin. there is not any longer any better sin or lesser sin that he will choose worse than the different. they are all forgivable sins except "Blaspheming the Holy Ghost" this is the in basic terms sin this is a particular lack of life sentence to everybody that commits this act. we are to stay righteously and holy as available in a international this is heavy ladden with sin. Striving to perfection in Jesus Christ our wish and our redeemer, the position we attempt to save the commandments of God.
