John declares that " there are three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one " ( KJV

This is the clearest statement on the Trinity in the Bible. However, most modern translations omit this verse. Why?

'the single greates cause of atheism in the world today is christians. who acknowledge jesus with their lips, then go out the door and deny him by their lifestyles. that is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.'

i would like to apologize for any remark made by any self-proclaimed christians. i am 18 and you have to realize that 4% of my generation will grow up to be god-serving christians.
so not everyone is what or who they claim to be. but you have to realize that christians are humans too, and tend to sin just like everyone else.

not really a question but i keep seeing how atheists complain that christians complain and attack them all the time. just trying to give a mature attitude.

Last Friday I was working out in Service in the Country (about 30 minutes away). I was doing my regular presentation... simply offering the Bible teach tract. When I asked the guy if he was a Bible reader he said he was and he told me that "the Lord are putting" he and his wife through some trials but he's helping them get through them. I told him he could be comforted and rest assured that "the Lord" wasn't the one placing the trials on him- but Satan- and that it's the Lord that helps him endure. I asked if he'd be interested in a Bible study and he said he definitely would. I asked when would be a good time to come back and demonstrate the study program and he said Wednesday afternoon would be good because his wife would be home then.
Then he started tearing up and told me he prayers for the Lord to take him home because his life is that bad right now.
It just broke my heart.

Should I encourage him to choose from the topics in the Bible Teach book or pick a certain one or both

For the Jehovah Witness religion or for any other religious faith that have this as a strict rule in their church. Why can the members fornicate and live to repent their sins; but they can't take blood and must choose to die? If you are an adult you choose to die and not take in blood, and so the law is also for their infant and children. Why can't they take in the blood to choose to live and be forgiven through repentence? Is it not the same as committing fornication, adultery, and other sins from the Ten Commandments and yet these sins we can be forgiven and live. You can repent and live for all other sins, but not for the blood? I don't understand.

Why was Jesus baptized? If Jesus was God in the flesh he was without sin. I thought the purpose of baptism was to wash away your sins. So, why would Jesus need to be baptized?

Or do you think that some of them might have "climbed their way out"?

I ask this because many members seem to think that it's incredibly hard to be a Mormon, and that people's natural trend, if they don't work against it, is to "fall away". On the contrary, I think that for those who are born into a Mormon family/culture, the "natural trend" is to follow along, and it takes a hefty conscious effort to climb out of the Church. People who leave the Church tend to do so only after years of "secret doubts" that they were afraid to tell anyone about, after a long and painful internal battle.

Do you think that our culture in the Church suppresses dissent and rewards conformity? What impact do you think this has on many members' perceived testimonies? What can members do to help others realize that it's ok to have doubts?

It may sound like a strange question but for years I have used the expression 'Oh My god', as its something I picked up from tv and music and everyday life, Its not even something I think about before saying, However one of my close friends who is a christian recently said that they found my use of it offensive, since this I have stopped saying it around them so not to hurt there feelings but it did get me wondering if its really that offensive anymore? I mean it has become so popular and widely used I would of thought most of the blasphemous nature it once had has pretty much gone and I didnt even consider it to be inappropriate.
What do you think?

Just to make sure that we will recognize a prophecy of the Rapture when we happen across it, let’s look at the descriptions of the Rapture in the letters of Paul.

1 Cor 15:51-53 (NRSV) – Listen, I will tell you a mystery! We will not all die, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For this perishable body must put on imperishability, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

1 Thess 4:13-18 (NRSV) – But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord.

according to the second law of thermodynamics, the law of increasing entropy (disorder), the universe is like a clock that is running down. if it is running down. then there must have been a time when it was "wound up" or created. the idea of evolution opposes the 2nd law of thermodynamics. the law says that if the world would left to itself will become less orderly or organized, evolution says that the universe is becoming more complex and highly ordered than it was originally. if a scientist accepts the 2nd law of thermodynamics, can he logically accept evolution?

Most of the people in my church have alot of money. And when we meet in homes for bible study and such I tend to lose my breath at how beautiful these homes and luxury cars are. I"m a middle class working artist and have never been a part of this society before until I joined this church

I know I should not pay attention to these things and focus on God but It's disturbing me more and more. I think about it when I ride the city bus and see children with no shoes or coats and I begin to feel guilty and feel resentment toward my church. I''m not making judgements, just want to know if what I"m feeling is ligitiment

Instead of Christmas they could celebrate these days. Have presents, have a play where atheists kids pretended to be on the Beagle, eat, gather with family, and celebrate evolution. Even have the stores decked out for them.

I still wonder if this would to happen would they still participate in Christmas? Plus would a theists participate in an atheist holiday?
