I feel that I can talk with God any time I need. I don't need to be on my knees or in a quiet place or even have my eyes closed. I feel that is part of the beauty of knowing God ...is that he is there for you ANY time or place ........ However, there are times that I just want to fall to my knees and be in a quiet place and pour my heart out to him, but I also know that he hears me either way.
I hoped this was helpful .... :)

you know, some people will stress on it, and some will say "God doesn't care HOW you worship Him..." to be honest with you, its not the same answer for everyone. Perhaps there is a person who never prays...but somthing happened that made them say "thank you God" or "I'm sorry" or whatever. But then you have the chuch going christian who prays every day, goes to church every sunday....well, maybe they can put a bit more effort into how they worship God (I mean if they do it because it is a habbit, but don't honestly feel it...they preach about it but don't do it) . I think that praying throughout the day in your head is great! honestly, it keeps you aware of God in your life, but maybe before bed, you should kneel down (or lay down) get into a still position, and just silently pray....clear your head. But really, only you know what is best. maybe it took more effort for the person who rarely prays to whisper a few words of thanks than it did the christian. The point is, our prayers carry different weights...maybe getting on your knees to pray is what You need to do, but maybe not :) hope I make sense!!!

What bodily position should we assume when praying? In the Bible, no particular position is specified for our prayers to be heard.
These include sitting, bowing, kneeling, and standing. (1 Chronicles 17:16; Nehemiah 8:6; Daniel 6:10; Mark 11:25) What is truly important is, not some special posture that can be seen by others, but the right heart attitude. In fact, during our daily activities or when we are faced with an emergency, we may offer a silent prayer wherever we are. God hears such prayers even though they may go completely unnoticed by those around us. Nehemiah 2:1-6.
Should you bow your head when you pray? Should you get down on your knees? Sometimes Jesus got down on his knees when he prayed. Other times he stood up. And at times he lifted his head toward heaven as he prayed, as he did when he prayed for Lazarus.
So, what does this show? This shows that the position you are in is not the important thing. Sometimes it is good to bow your head and close your eyes. At other times you may even want to get down on your knees, as Jesus did. But, remember, we can pray to God at any time during the day or night, and he will hear us. The important thing about prayer is that we really believe that God is listening.

Prayer has differant levels. We have conversations with Him all day long regarding everything we do seeking His thoughts and opinions and guidance, but our speech is with our mouths. He can hear our thoughts but we need to talk to Him just like we talk to each other. Jesus showed the disciples how to pray and He showed them in the garden. He said when you pray "SAY". Not think in your head. He started out addressing "The Father." Not anyone else. He then began to praise His name. Telling God how hollowed His name is. He proclaimed His holiness and gave glory to Him. It was a prayer of example but we can use the same protocol but use our own words from our hearts. You can kneel on your knees if you want, when you have private prayer, or sit up it doesn't matter, you cn even lie down on your face, just make sure you are praying to Him and no one else ex: so called saints or "Mother Mary" or some other false worship. Follow Christ's example.

God cares more about what is in your heart than what physical position you are in.
Kneeling comes from the times when people knelt before worldly rulers and therefore, also knelt before God.
Kneeling is position that states the kneeler is a less powerful being than the person being knelt before .. therefore it is seen as being respectful to God to kneel. And this why formal worship situations usually involve kneeling.
But for your own prayers, concentrate on being present with God and honest and open

From what I understand, God is our father and he loves and cares for us..and although he should be respected in whatever aspects of our lives, if we need to talk to him..we just talk. Kneeling is a sign of respect but weather we are kneeling, standing, sitting crying or laying down..he will listen to what we need to talk to him about because that is what a good father does.

Praying is opening your heart and mind to God. It doesn't matter how or what fashion you feel comfortable when praying. No special language nor special phrases are required either.
The only thing you really need to be mindful when you're talking to God is to be willing to listen as well as talk.

in most cases, He prefers you to kneel when you are by yourself...but there are cases in the Bible when Christians or believers of God couldn't pray aloud...so they prayed in their hearts. God hears it. when i pray at night, i always whisper and at least sit up (most of the time i kneel)...it's showing respect to Him. I also know that when you pray for a group, it's more respectful for the prayee...i guess...or maybe prayerer... anyway, for them to stand up...it's about respect...when you can, you should kneel...and in your mind or out loud is up to you.

Kneeling simply shows humility and respect. But it is not always necessary to kneel when praying.
Still, God loves kneemail.

I usually talk to God when I'm doing the dishes or when I'm showering.
You don't have to kneel, God will always hear you.
