Thanksgiving is not just about eating a bunch of food it is also about getting together with family.

Having the ability not to gorge on thanksgiving or any other holiday is each persons own responsibility, and not taking that last piece of pie is part of it also. There is nothing wrong with celebrating with food, but excesses of any thing is wrong.

your definitions of gluttony and greed are off base. giving thanks and enjoying a good meal are not anywhere near those 'deadly' sins. gluttony really isn't about food as much as a lifestyle of relentless and rationalized excess, and greed in the sense of a deadly sin is a lifestyle of manipulating to satisfy irrational self-interest with little or no regard for others.
