Mark 12

One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, “What commandment is the foremost of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The foremost is, ‘HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; 30 AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’

Matthew 4
Then Jesus said to him, “Go, Satan! For it is written, ‘YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.’”

John 17
“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

If god is changing things himself because of someone's prayers then he takes the decision away from the rest of us.

I don't know if it's just some low-level dyslexia on my part, or perhaps a Freudian slip that makes me do this; but when you see the word "theodicy", do you ever read it as "theo-idiocy"?

Or is it just me?

Gal.1:8 ....or we or an angel from heaven...let him be accursed.

Rev.1:1 ....and he sent and signified it by his angel unto...John.

What do you guys think?

(I asked this in the R&S section because I wanted more of your spiritual perception of this.)

It WILL eventually rain. So, will that be a miracle? What if it doesn't happen for weeks? Will that mean God is considering the request. LOL!

Catholics have no right to play the victim card. Just google Goa inquistion. They burned COUNTLESS people ALIVE at the stake... And Benny once held the position if inquisitor.

I have been studeing this question lately.
The JW's with good reasion say stake. A study of the Greak words use Stauros and xylon (both meaning stake, pale tree or pole) appear to confirm they are correct.
There is an arguement when Thomas asked to see the holes in Jesus hand it proved he was nailed to a cross but this arguement does not hole water because one nail can go through two hands.
My questions are -
1 What difference does it make ?
2 If the Jw's where proved beyond doubt, would the churches pull down the crosses and put up stakes ?
3 How do Crosses or Stakes fit in with 1 John 5:21
4 Seeing the cross came from the ancient Babylonians of Chalda and is the symbol for Tammuz the false messiah should Christian have them in their Churches anyway ?

Could Christians be following the wrong Jesus? Are they following a Jesus that made a living scamming others with false miracles?

And when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain conjurer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-jesus; (Act 13:6)

well dont get me wrong but its possible.About 1000 years ago people said god created man but science proved em wrong by the theory of evolution which states that man evolved from monkeys and wasnt created by god.About 400 years ago people said that god created rain but science proved them wrong as water cycle was created and we discovered that rain is formed by clouds formed from water vapour.300 years ago people used to say that god created the sun but science proved that sun was a star formed after big bang. Now if a scientist comes up with a theory which tells us that god doesnt exist,he proves this theory,THEN WHAT?,ALL OUR BELIEFS WILL HAVE BEEN PROVED TO BE FALSE,is it possible?

"A chrisitian is one who sees a rainbow in every tear."
And maybe it was suppossed to make me happy, but in a way it kind of made me sad....
what are some church signs that made you sad or a little down -- not the usual upbeat happy church signs??

so, here's my question:

How many of the things your mind is aware of (atomic bombs exploding, the surface of Mars, etc.) have you actually personally experienced? I am guessing about 1 in 1000.

Why do people take bibles from hotels? The fact that they are stealing bibles makes it pretty likely they're Christian, so they're committing a sin. What the heck's up with that?

2007-11-13 00:26:50 · 12 answers · asked by skame 5

Here's another argument from an atheist:

"The Bible says that Jesus and God are one, yet seperate. Jesus is God, but he's not, but he is. In the New Testament, Satan is seen tempting Jesus/God. This is interesting since Satan knew that Jesus was God and yet seperate, so why did he think that tempting him would work?

"I'm going to tempt Jesus/God so that Jesus/God wouldn't be without sin, so he couldn't die for people's sins so everyone will go to Hell. God won't see that coming. It's not like God can see into the future."

Here is my rebuttal:

Jesus did not know for sure what would happen in every single circumstance. When God sent himself as Jesus on the earth, I believe that he cut himself off from some of his knowledge. If Jesus knew everything single thing, then it wouldn't have been a true test.

Jesus was to live as a man so he could die for our sins.

Agree?
