Here's a question that should give those that say Jesus was nothing but a con man who fooled the people with magic tricks etc. some food for thought. If that is all Jesus was... a really good con man ... why did the Pharisees and Saducees not fight to expose him instead of arranging to have him executed?

If you read the Gospel accounts, the religious leaders practically stalked Jesus and his band of disciples. Why didn't they come up with proof that they were charlatans... cons ... and expose them to the people for what they were. Instead they had him killed, making him more "dangerous" in death as a martyr than he ever was alive. Does that make any sense?

I use an abundance of caution and have 87 currently. I don't like to operate this way, but, such is the (virtual) world we live in.

I was noticing today that I get less diversity in responses because of all the blocks, but there are too many reporting trolls around, so I guess I have to live with the trade off.

I'm even asking this question on my other account as an added layer of protection.

I wonder what group has, on average, more blocked users...I'm thinking atheists.

God says that Jews are the Chosen People.
Jesus and his deciples were Jewish.
Jews wrote the OT (the inspired word of God).

Why don't all Christians convert to Judaism, if not for anti-semitism?

How can Protestants be down on catholics based on the bible.

The Catholic Church was the first church and existed alone until 1600ish. (there were no protestant chuches for 80% of the churches life)

The Bible was put together by Catholics

Protestants took parts of the bible that didnt fit with their newly fashioned beliefs (ie divorce) out of the bible to make a new one.

Most protestant churches are less than 100 years old and there are 38,000 denominiations.

Can anyone help me with that???

Would that be fun, or what!? And it's only 15 MINUTES FROM MY WORK!

I don't know if I'm actually going, but it would be fun to put a face to some avatars. :) And no, I wouldn't actually debate. :P It would all be the same old **** anyway, only without the ability to reference BibleGateway.com or Wikipedia. I wonder who's actually personable in "real life." I know I am. *wink*

Since this HAS to be a question according to CG:

R&S members? Free food and drinks at an upscale restaurant? Would this be fun or what? :)

I am a Christian woman and when I began to date my husband he was a strong Christian man. He had some down falls in life, loosing a job and not finishing up with school. And began to change. He began drinking and becoming abusive physicly and emotionaly neglectful. I do not feel he is the same person any more. He has renounced him belifes in God and says he dosn't condier himself a Christian any longer.

I have been going to counsling, yet he refuses to go with me. He says we don't really have any problems. I am afraid to talk to him. I am afraid to leave him because of the abuse.

We have only been married for 2 years. We are both in our mid 20's and have no children. I know Biblicly the only grounds for divorce is audultry. But nothing is working. I've been praying so hard and we've even tried a seperation and it was a failure.

I find myself starting to notice other men. And I feel terably guilty for that. What should I do? Is divorce ok? Will God curse me?

Not many Christians want to discuss the apparent contradiction between the genealogies of Matthew and Luke. Many Christians raise the defense that the genealogy of Luke is actually referring to Mary. When in all actuality this cannot be the case it would seem since Mary's name is never mentioned. What are your thoughts?

I have been studying the cross lately and came across some interesting things.
Constantine the Great called the 1st Christian Emperior was a Pagan high preist who did not convert to Christianaty untill on his death bed.
He introduced the trinity and the cross to the Christian church , apx 320 years after Jesus died .
Is this the begining of the coruption of what Jesus taught ?
Why did Jews and Christians believe in one God untill then ?
Why does Islam agree with the Jews on this point ?
Why did Constantine introduct the Pagan cross ?
Why did Christians stop believeing in Jesus was gods son and god was the head of the christ until this point ?

we have seen thousands of fossils of human like mammals that have slowly changed over the last 4 million years. to what we are today. this is a fact. if you take a fossil of a neanderthal and place it in the hand of anyone and ask them if it is real. they will all say yes. ask, is not faith the belief in something without proof. they will point to books that all say the world is 6,000 years old, flat, stars hang from golden chains, the adam and eve story, the tower of babel. people built a tower almost up to heaven. noah loaded up hundreds of mllions of animals on a tiny boat. should a all powerful, all knowing god allow a devil to mislead me? no! if he did. it would be the gods fault ,not mine. do we really need anything other than the golden rule? do unto others as you would have others do unto you. as i would not like to be killed so i should not kill, as i would not like my property stolen then i should not steal. instead of this.we have books of fairy-tales.

Leviticus says he can't. "Leviticus 20:21 And if a man shall take his brother's wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother's nakedness; they shall be childless." Does this mean I can bang away at my sister-in-law with out worrying that she will get pregnant? After all the Bible is never wrong.

All too often, when I try to "do unto others as I would have them do unto me," it ticks them off. Is it just because I'm a little weird, or is it because we're all different (imagine an extravert trying to cheer up an introvert, for instance).

Not that I'm a Christian anymore, but I'm asking as someone who tries to treat people well.

I love to watch documentaries, especially ones about animals. Well I recall watching a documentary about this scientific couple who reared a chimpanzee in their home in Africa. The couple treated said chimpanzee like family, taught it sign language, and of course unwillingly taught it human habits. Well this chimpanzee was a male and eventually grew up to maturity. At that point, the chimpanzee became obsessed with the wife. Several times it tried to mate, uh excuse me have intercourse with her. When her husband came close to her, the chimpanzee would attack him. Sadly, they had to reeducate this lovelorn chimpanzee back into the wild.

So why do you think, she rejected the chimpanzee's advances? Perhaps the chimpanzee could have treated her better than her husband. If the husband filed for divorce or wanted to be separated from his wife, on the legal document could he put down "suspected wife to have an affair with chimpanzee"? Why did they make the chimpanzee go back to the jungle, if he was only doing what came natural? What is natural to every male in the animal kingdom?

In the unfortunate event, the chimpanzee did sexually assault the wife, could the chimpanzee be charged with said crime? Plus if the chimpanzee only knows a few words in sign language, how can he have a fair trial? If convicted what type of prison arrangements would have to be made for the chimpanzee? Then in prison, inmates work and some of that earned income is used to pay off their fine. What type of prison job, will a chimpanzee get? What of the parole board?
