That seems like a pretty fair assumption to me ....

Personally I think both happiness and sadness are delusions. What I think you are talking about is comfort and yes with comfort comes "happiness" because you are distracted from "self" and thus can focus on things that pass the time instead make you pay attention to it.

PS - Though happiness is as irrational as sadness if I had to choose I think you know what I would - good relationships, good health and good provision :)

Yes, and no. You can have all those and not be happy. But NOT having a minimum amount of each of those (enough health to take care of yourself, someone to love, enough money to feed yourself, a roof over your head) can make you unhappy.

If you put God first everything else falls in order. God is happiness, protection and provision.
