Given those two choices, belief in the one true God of Abraham is much better than rejecting all belief in God.
The Catholic Church teaches, "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."
"It is my ardent hope that Muslim and Christian religious leaders and teachers will present our two great religious communities as communities in respectful dialogue, never more as communities in conflict."
-- Pope John Paul II, Meeting with Muslim Leaders in Omayyad Great Mosque, Damascus, May 6, 2001. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/speeches/2001/documents/hf_jp-ii_spe_20010506_omayyadi_en.html
Christians and Muslims, following their respective religions, point to the truth of the sacred character and dignity of the person. This is the basis of our mutual respect and esteem, this is the basis for cooperation in the service of peace between nations and peoples, the dearest wish of all believers and all people of good will.
As an illustration of the fraternal respect with which Christians and Muslims can work together, I would like to quote some words addressed by Pope Gregory VII in 1076 to a Muslim prince in North Africa who had acted with great benevolence towards the Christians under his jurisdiction. Pope Gregory spoke of the particular charity that Christians and Muslims owe to one another “because we believe in one God, albeit in a different manner, and because we praise him and worship him every day as the Creator and Ruler of the world.”
-- Pope Benedict XVI, Meeting with the President of the Turkish Religious Affairs Directorate in Ankara, Turkey, November 28, 2006. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2006/november/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20061128_pres-religious-affairs_en.html

You cannot convert to Atheism - Just as you cannot convert from astrology to...what, "non-astrology"?
Atheism is not a philosophy; it is not even a view of the world; it is simply a refusal to deny the obvious...
Atheism is nothing more than the noises reasonable people make when in the presence of religious dogma. -Sam Harris
What you are asking is; 'Would you prefer Muslims give up the belief system created by their ancestors and decide to refuse denying the obvious - that just as astrology is made up, theology is made up - ...or remain believing in unreasonable doctrine created 1400 years ago.

practising Muslims see Christians and Jews as quite much precise, on the same time as they view atheists and polytheists as completely incorrect. In Islam, the worst, maximum unforgivable sin - shirk - is to assign companions to Allah - to assert that different beings are as powerful or worth of worship as he's - or to disclaim that he exists. that could inhibit some Muslims from dealing with their own atheism, on condition that they have been inculcated with the attitude that atheism comes at once from the shaytan and is unforgivable. Time and time lower back, I pay attention Muslims asserting they wrestle with recommendations that come from the shaytan, that whisper that god does not exist, and that those recommendations cause them to pray greater durable and attempt to be greater helpful Muslims, and each time I pay attention that i think of that there is yet another atheist who only can not make the social bounce. of course, there are a number of Muslims who've develop into atheists - there was some who published in this section, and there are some who submit in Ramadan, the place they are concern to the foulest abuse from the pious. Atheists do only no longer generally cite "converts" to atheism, on condition that each and every atheist is an self reliant entity. to boot, there are not atheist missionaries working to get conversion rates up, the two. whilst people develop into atheists, they achieve this quietly, below their own steam.

I think it's upto people to decide what they believe in. My whole family is super religious (muslims) and I'm the only atheist (they don't know yet). I'm not going to hell which also proves religion is stupid because it's scaring you into not doing bad things. Decide for youself instead of following guidelines in a book that someone wrote. People need something to rely on when they're going through hard times so they pray to god. Religion obviously doesn't help..what about all the poor people that are super religious their lives don't even change. I chose not to believe in myths. Relying on religion is what many do to become a better person because it sets rules and boundary lines for what's right and wrong...but I'm atheist and I'm still a good person. Haven't you realized that the educated such as scientists are almost always atheist? Relgious people are narrow minded and choose not to believe scientifically proven facts. I don't know many people that decide for themselves what they believe in, they just copy what their parents forced them to learn. It's not just muslims that need to become atheist..everyone does. It seems like you're only targeting muslims..what about other religions? In my opinion, the world would be a much better place and we wouldn't have needless wars. As today, people don't like muslims due to the war. I don't mind people being religious as long as they don't involve others like forcing others to convert which is really stupid.

While I am Christian and would say convert to Christianity, I know I cant make you, so I would say remain Muslim, I feel that it is always better to have something to believe in.

Whatever works best for them. Some people can't handle atheism, for some it's the only way they'll ever be free.
