It's an all-star conference set for the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif., Jan. 17-19.

Former President George H.W. Bush will speak.

Chuck Colson will make a presentation.

Larry King will be there.

Rupert Murdoch will address attendees.

Ben Stein will appear.

And Kay Warren, wife of Saddleback Church mega-pastor Rick Warren, will join Robert Schuller
It's called the "Rethink Conference," and Schuller promises 30 "Aha!" moments from the 30 different speakers confirmed for the event.

Not everyone is thrilled about this meeting of the minds. Some, including Christian author and former New Age devotee Warren Smith, suspect an agenda to subvert the church – to take the focus off biblical truth and absolutes
According to Smith, Schuller has always "done a good job of softening up the church" for what he sees as unbiblical New Age ideas. And that's just what he expects the "Rethink Conference" is all about.

Thoughts?

For a long time I have noticed his disinterest in life increase.
I'm not so sure he will try to end his life, he is a Christian. I am sure he has given up. I am afraid he's trying to rationalize suicide, that somehow his mortal soul will make it to heaven if he ends his life because of his faith and love for Christ. His room covered in religious books, always resiting the rosary, not making it to mass any more. I visit with him but I am in denial, I don't know what to do, please do not be harsh.

My father provided us with the basic necessities and was generous.. Now, he was a gambler 24/7 on days off, holidays, vacations and you got the picture. He even worked next to the gambling place. He would tell us how he would spend my mother's and his entire life savings and he would be so happy that we would be on the streets after he died. He told us to change our last names, and how he hated us, threatened us, and said our mother was like a cancer to him--she was married 40 years to him, and he would say bad things to anyone outside of the family about us as a family even things that were not true. He said he wanted us poor and miserable after he died and we would have to pick his dick hairs from the grave if we wanted anything..... this is all true... I hate my father to this day... Anyone give me insight as to what kind of person he was or what was with him. He said he loved gambling and would give it all away to the place he gambled because it was more important than his family..

If he has powers that only a god could possess, then it follows that he is a god. But if there is only one god, how could that be?

So what?

That is okay. What exactly is the basis for any uproar over The Golden Compass (which is not even blatantly anti-Christian)? So it doesn't promote the same message you do? And?

They only go for about 2 weeks before Winter Break anyways. The last 2 years I had serious issues with the school about religious songs being sung in class. The principal sides with me and mildly scolds the teacher but nothing is really done about it. Instead of going through the crap again I thought I'd just gather up his school work for the 2 weeks and he can do it at home. What do you think?

There are systems going around as of late professing to be Kabbalah but there is only one authentic Kabbalah- a 5000 year old tradition. Older than Christianity, Islam, and even Judaism. Judaism has been the vehicle whereby this ancient tradition has been kept safe but it pre-dates Judaism. The Kabbalah is a vast system of understanding and knowledge that discloses the existence of everything. I have a forum located at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kabbalah_institute
I am inviting honest seekers to learn and share.
As an educated Jew I have learned the tradition of Kabbalah from my Rav who learned it from his Rav and so on and so forth in an unbroken chain.

Both are men yet one man is made a god. Why?

Romans 5:15

15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.

Even Paul called Jesus a man.

If one man can condemn everyone then he must also be god since one man can save everyone and is also considered a god.

I guess we should have a Quad-inity as opposed as a trinity?

Or am I just utterly way out in left field?

then how are we preparing our kids for the real world?

Acting like you can ignore religion is an idiotic thing to do. Once they graduate from their sheltered enviroment called the US public schools they're going to face a big thign in their lives and have no idea how to handle it...

Should theology classes be manditory like gym class, math, and history? I think kids should have atleast 1 theology class in school so they can learn the basics of other religions so they wont have false prejudice against others.

Is it bad to be christian? If so, why?

In the vedic tradtion it is very scientifically understood that the cow is one of our 7 holy mothers. The cow and the bull are the source of Dharma(Religion) and Artha(Wealth) in society. The cow is the supplier of milk, butter, ghee, yogurt, and cheese. The urine and stool of the cow itself is full of antiseptic and medical properties. The bull can be used to plow the land. These animals are truly wonders and worthy of all respect and care. How can anyone claim to be religious or human or intelligent or loving when you feed off the flesh of these poor creatures who are violently slaughted every day. I tell you it is truly the same sin as killing your mother. And all atheists and theists can agree that one should not kill his mother.
