I have had about enough of people telling me that I'm going to hell because of this or that! Isn't it so damn convenient that you Christians are perfect! I am just so sick of people forcing beliefs on others.

So....

What makes you so damn sure yours is the "right religion" anyway? You never hear of people trying to convert Christians into non-belief, just because they think its wrong to be Christian? Why do you all feel the need to preach when those who believe are most likely already Christian? Is there like a monthly converting quota to hit or something? And most importantly why do so many "Christians" show so much hate all of the time? What ever happened to love thy neighbor?
What makes you holier than thou?

whom did I hear it from?

For years, maybe decades my household was visited by different members of Jehovah's Witnesses, both in my native country and in two states in the USA. It was through them we got to know and read a lot of the Bible. My mom, and then later us, would buy whatever books and the two types of magazines they always brought with them. At times they were simply gifts, at least many years ago. But now everything I thought I had learned from them, it's told me it isn't the case.

Is it just me being confused completely, or anyone else hear from them, that there were Antichrists_whether one or many, I can't recall_and that only one ruler would rule the world. That there'd be only one monetary unit. And that whomever didn't have mark of the beast would not survive easily?

Most famous thing they use to say was something similar to what's in many other people's mouth nowadays: "A new world order". No one heard this before?

It seems there are a lot of report happy folks on yahoo, and most certainly here on the R/S board. What is the weirdest violation you have received?

Mine:
Last week I simply asked "What's for dinner?" on my way out the door after work, I wanted some dinner ideas and figured I might have one by the time I got home. When I checked in at home 15 minutes later I could see I'd had 11 responses but I couldn't even view them because the question had been removed. And yes the violation notice was in the mail.

BTW I did asked in the general society area not the R/S so it wasn’t off topic. And I think the "what's for dinner" is one of the greatest recurrent debates of our society.

I was watching Zeitgeist and its was interesting how much of the Bible has to do with astrology. Is that why astrology was forbidden? So no one would figure it out?

It left behind fossil evidence that Bible story of Creation is wrong and you know what that means... no Adam & Eve, so as there was no original sin Jesus had no reason to be here at all.

If homosexuality is so sinful and such an "abomination" why didn't he ever address it himself?

Many Christians disregard much of the old testament because of its ridiculous laws (such as a woman staying out of the public during her menstrual cycle), but pick and choose the verses to condemn homosexuality. As far as I know there are only 2 (seeming) mentions of homosexuality in the new testament and both were made by Paul (who as most christians are aware, had a holier-than-thou personality).

I get answers that indicate that god has been in wars so it is Ok. That sure tells me a lot about your religion and your god. The problem for the pope is he does not realise that someday people will figure Jesus out.

I've heard of, and seem to remember reading for myself, a bible passage in which Jesus says that all the old ways and laws (which amounts to the old testament) are no longer valid. But I am not enough of a biblical scholar to find it for myself.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I just find it absurd when a wealthy individual rants about how unfairly he's treated.

Obviously I'm refering to Christians, but they're not the only ones. Other religious people and ethnic minorities apply as well.

Or do you cherry-pick what to abide by and what not to?

Ok, you follow the ten commandments, you believe in the Creation myth, but you no longer stone adulteresses (I hope) or approve of bears killing kids who mock a bald man, or openly speak to your kids of a God that commands his "chosen people" to kill men, women and children by the sword *

Then you say that Christ came to clean all sin; but then you go back to the Creation, the Ten Commandments and so, your kids even get thrilled when those baddie Egyptians drown in the Red Sea...

When or why did you decide (for yourselves) what to blatantly ignore from the Bible?

*FYI, all this is in the Bible; you might want to read it just to check...
