It just didn't happen.
Supposedly it could have happened. Perhaps Pilate could have realized what Jesus could do, and then offered Him protection from the mob and from crucifixion by hiding Him or something. Maybe Jesus could have traveled to Rome and performed His miracles there as well and Christianity could have been born on a much larger scale hundreds of years earlier. But, alas, that did not happen. Just think, the Roman Empire might still exist today, but instead became a victim of its own brute force.

It seems Pilate ruled by the brute force that your average potentate rules here on earth, and did not rule using his mind at all. So, because of that, Jesus was seen as a threat and not a resource, and unfortunately for the people of the time, was crucified and died.

Imagine if they had the concept of protective custody back then? Imagine if Pilate had secretly converted to this new religion of Jesus and secretly sought to protect Jesus? Pilate would have probably had to do all this in secret to avoid being killed or dethroned himself. And even then, would Jesus have accepted Pilates conversion and offer to help? Not that Jesus needed any help. I guess that's the point. When you realize that there were many things that would have had to have happened for Jesus to remain on earth, you can see how difficult it would have been for Pilate to help Jesus and not trick "the mob" into crucifying their own King, which is what the Bible tells us what happened when the crowd was asked to make the judgement against or for Jesus. The crowd cried out,"Crucify Him", and Pilate "washed his hands" of the whole affair.

Also, you have to imagine how different His death and resurrection would have been, if he had not been crucified, but went on and continued His ministry.

He could have, but he wouldn't. The political climat was very hot in Jeruselem because the Jews were chafing against the Roman rule. At no time was the climate more volital then Passover. This was because Passover was when the Jews were delivered from their Egyptian bondage, so it's celebration brought about the desire to be free of their Roman bondage. The crowd was probably more like a mob when Pilate was shoved into the situation, so he didn't dare go against them, for fear they would over run him and his men. Also, in the years before that, there had been a lot of upheval during Passover, so Pilate had to do what he could to keep them all in line. Besides which, what did he care what happened to some obscure Rabbi? If he had only known! Also, it was God's will; Jesus had to die so that we could be forgiven. Hope this helps.

You mean Pontius Pilate, or the exercise pilates? Cause if you haven't seen a crucifix lately, Jesus was ripped!

If you're referring to the person, well Pilate was basically stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either piss off the disciples or piss off the people. Instead, he took the easy route and utilized an old Jewish custom honoring Passover that allowed the people to decide which one of two prisoners they wanted released.

That, and it was Christ's destiny to die for our sins.

Pontius Pilate pleased the crowd. He did not want a riot on his hands to explain to the king and Rome who had placed this judgment in his lap. He attempted to wash his hands of it literally and placed the blame on the people. It's called passing the buck.

Because "pilates" is just an exercise routine.
And Pontius Pilate was out of shape.

Pilate was a moral coward and fell to the temptation of the crowd.

Save Jesus? Jesus did what He came to do. You might feel sad for what happened to Him but He was in the very centre of God's will. No one killed Him. He gave His life so that you can go to heaven and be with Him if you want.

He conquered the death. Jesus is alive.

You havent been paying attention have you? Pilate owed his alligiance to Rome and Jesus of Nazareth was a threat to Rome. He had no choice but to have Him killed.

Because that is God designed it. That was his role to play in Jesus' crucifixion. If he and others did not, then Jesus would not have died to save our souls.

Jesus give himself up. He made a point to emphasize that nobody was taking his life from him, but that he and only he could give up his life, when and where and in the manner he chose. sort of a suicide.
