I have heard/read so many times that agnostics are agnostic because they want to "play it safe" with the big guy...God!
Yet surely those who state this know full well that with most religions getting into heaven requires more that just sheer belief.
So I am wondering from all the experts is if I play it safe and supposly don't believe yet am too afraid of God to admit that; should I also pray on a part time basis (or at least pretend to).
I want to make sure I am "safe" ya know. :)
Thanks for your enlighted answers! Have a great day.

Matthew 16:18 "....that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it"
This verse has been designated as a premise for the Authority of the Popes as the successor's to St Peter, thus giving Catholicism the unique denomination of Christ's chosen Church. BUT if you look a few verses down the page as a rebuke;

Matthew 16:23; "......said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: though art an offence to me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men."

Peter then went on to deny Jesus "three times b4 the cock crow" ( though the cock crowed after the first denial in Mark 14: 66-72) ALSO
2 Corinthians 11:14-15; " and no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works"
Could this mean the Vatican is the house of Satan?

Do they realize there ARE Christians in countries who experience REAL persecution. They are beaten, raped, killed or forced out of the country?

In America Christians can assemble, pray, worship, raise funds, form private organisations etc. Even though America was never founded as a "Christian nation" by our founding fathers. See source

There was a Christian bias in public policy in the past but we now know that in order to ensure freedom of speech, freedom of worship and liberty and justice for all, we cannot force the values of ONE religion or one branch or church of one religion on EVEYRONE else. It is part of perfecting our democracy and living up to the Constitution which is there to protect the minority as well as the majority.

Yet some Christians call this persecution. But is it REALLY persecution or just losing a popularity contest in the public arena?

And in ANY case, why should Christians WANT to be popular? Doesn't their bible say true Christians NEVER are?

I am just kind of curious how these two words fit together. I know all Christians sin. So please don't give that as your answer. But how can people who say they are a Christian say there is nothing wrong with homosexuality or that it is not a sin? The Bible clearly says that homosexuals will not enter the kingdom of Heaven. So how do you get around this?

1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that unjust ones will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be led astray, neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals,

Dear Blind leading the Blind Christian. READ YOUR BIBLE FOR YOURSELF.
New King James
John 9 ;35 Jesus says, Do you believe in the SON OF GOD?
At the bottom of the page, where it has the corrections... it admits that it changed the word from MAN TO GOD.
Jesus wasn't THE sON OF GOD. He was a fraud set up by man murdered so man be be taught some more fear of Heaven and Hell AND THE BIG BAD DEVIL!! Like the wicked God of the old testement who burned mothers children babies, and slaughtered animals so he could smell a " SWEET AROMA" MMMMMM!!!
Ask your ignorant pastor why he doesnt teach on the scripture of SON OF man and son of God! Or ask why your church doesn't preach on the story of Mary " Supposing him to be the gardener" (ask Jesus " Where did you put the body"? ( Didnt KNOW IT WAS JESUS?
WAIT heres another.... He says cast the net to the right side of the boat.. and when the deciples came ashore that " none of them dared ask who he was ,knowing it was the Lord????
Read for yo

Is that why you would vote against it? Or is it your own will that you are enforcing? Mightn't God want you to worry about yourself before interfering with the free will of others?

I'd make a list, and lists from others hopefully might be similar to this: Kindness, love of your fellow man (meaning humanitarian), love your family, etc. etc. Does that person deserve to burn in Hell because his "faith" is limited exclusively to being a kind decent person?

How about this Scenario:
--A Japanese man who loves his parents, who's parents love him, who is the definition of altruistic behavior -- yet who's culture, with everyone he's ever known, is "blasphemous"?? Because the punishment for loving your Buddhist religion, your ancestor's traditions, your 1000 year old culture, and along with it, your knowledge of what's right and what's wrong is to roast alive for eternity?

I would condemn such things, and any such entity that is responsible for such eternal torture for the undeserving. Maybe the Japanese guy had the courage to smile while roasting on Satan's BBQ, because he knew he'd brought love and happiness to people's lives.
