In the vedic tradtion it is very scientifically understood that the cow is one of our 7 holy mothers. The cow and the bull are the source of Dharma(Religion) and Artha(Wealth) in society. The cow is the supplier of milk, butter, ghee, yogurt, and cheese. The urine and stool of the cow itself is full of antiseptic and medical properties. The bull can be used to plow the land. These animals are truly wonders and worthy of all respect and care. How can anyone claim to be religious or human or intelligent or loving when you feed off the flesh of these poor creatures who are violently slaughted every day. I tell you it is truly the same sin as killing your mother. And all atheists and theists can agree that one should not kill his mother.

How sad. How childish.

A society is known by how it treats its weakest members. And people wonder why the world is in the state it is and why there is so much war. So violent.

a cow is no more holy than your mother. The point is that you must have the same feeling of appreciation and respect that you have for your mother. Something none of you have and have no shame for that either.

all life should be treated with respect

since you said "one should not kill his mother" does that mean women can kill their mothers or were you simply being sexist?

Cool, a HINDU proselytizer for a change!

>>How can anyone claim to be religious

Because [drumroll...] not all religions are based on the Vedas.

>>or human or
>>intelligent or loving when you feed off the flesh of these
>>poor creatures who are violently slaughted [sic] every day.

Because 1) humans are omnivorous animals, meaning we eat both meat and vegetables, and 2) cows have been made for eating. Cows are not wild animals; they were selectively bred by us over years from particular breeds of oxen, with the distinct purpose of human consumption.

>>The point is that you must have the same feeling of
>>appreciation and respect that you have for your mother.
>>Something none of you have and have no shame for that
>>either.

You are correct: I take absolutely no shame in the fact that I have more respect for my mother and her life than I have for a cow and its life. I take absolutely no shame in placing a higher personal value on some organisms than on others. This does not mean that I treat all animals as "inferiors"; I just accept the fact that I too am an animal, and am not a herbivore.

If I told you that I had a personal revelation from Kali that this was expected of me and pleased Her, would you still argue with me?

Viruses are weaker than Cows. They are biological like cows, and feed from the earth like Cows.

At what point do you draw the line at what is considered murder?

When ever you combat a cold, you are murdering a virus, a living entity. When you enjoy your bowl of rice, a plant was heinously murdered for you to appreciate substance.

Every action that any animal takes in life, results in another animal/plant/living thing dying.

So applying the 'holy' tag on cows, because you 'value life' means that you should place the 'holy' tag on all living things. Unless you have established a disproportionate love for cheese, which is really driving your belief system.

It is not the same as killing one's mother. It is an animal. We are above the animals. I'm sorry you can't see that. Maybe you'd like to give up your house, your computer, and go live in a herd somewhere.

They're just dumb animals we use for food. Nothing holy about them, if there's anything more ridiculous than worshiping a god, it's worshiping a farm animal.
