“For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.”
-1 Corinthians 1:26-29

Would you rather be considered foolish, weak, and nothing by the world…yet chosen by God?
Or would you rather be considered wise, powerful, and noble by the world…yet shamed by God?

I was doing some research..Looking for reasons why we abandoned plural marrage. I kind of wanted to get it going again you know? We'll doctrine it seems was changed in order to obtain statehood. Did God want us to be a state so bad that he would just change our doctrine?

I saw someone just ask if religion should be taught in school and someone said they don't think Christianity should be taught because he's Jewish...does this person automatically assume "religion = Christian"??

why do believers point to the conditions of earth which sustain life as evidence of god? given that god can do anything, why can he not make life that can exist in any condition? it would seem like a much better use of the rest of the universe, wouldn't it? if i were to ever see life on pluto which defied the logic which states that life can't exist on pluto, then i think i would be a little more open to the idea of god existing than making life only possible on planets that have similar conditions to earth.

Other religion's gods are considered mythical. (Roman, Norse, Greek, Egyptian, etc.) Now I know people who believe in one God will call 'him' God and the others mythical. I'm talking about how people who don't believe in one or any gods at all, just refer to God as God and everyone else's as 'mythical' even in 'unbiased' articles. (My World History book for example.) What's up with that?

I'm talking about acts such as running into a burning building, jumping into a freezing river, getting into a wrecked, burning car to rescue someone.

Without thought, means you don't think about your own safety at all.

What would drive you to do this?

"They went out from us, but they were not of us" (1 John 2;19); "Who is a liar, but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is Antichrist, who denies the Father, and the Son" (1 John 2:22); "And every spirit that dissolveth Jesus, is not of God; and this is Antichrist" (1 John 4:3); "For many seducers are gone out into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh: this is a seducer and an Antichrist" (2 John 7). Also the time, the Apostle places the coming of Antichrist at "the last hour" (1 John 2:18); again he maintains that "he is now already in the world" (1 John 4:3).

this to me descibes perfectly the WT&TS; Satan's true organization on earth

Am I correct

Atheists believe that this is your one life and you do not have one after this. Therefore they do not believe in justice. Hitler for example will not have to pay for the millions he killed. Therefore I can rape, kill, rob, and do what I wish and as long as I don't get caught before I die and life is good for ME then that is wonderful. Atheists love evolution which states survival of the fittest. Thus if I have the most power then I make the law. Which is of course what George Bush is doing. According to atheism there can be no right or wrong. Just chemicals and chemical reations. Pain, emotions, love: Its all just chemicals. Who cares about chemicals? Human emotions? Nah just chemicals. So thank you atheists for your contribution to the world. When I get nuclear weapons and eliminate everyone I can live happily knowing that I won't have to pay for this in my next life. And man is George Bush a swell guy. Long live the fittest!!!

Or is faith, itself, a gift from God?

In other words, is it impossible for an atheist or another non-Christian to “choose” to become a child of God without the supernatural intervention of God?

Hi there, I ask this question seriously so I hope no-one is offended and that I receive serious answers. I know sodomy is even named after one of the cities of sin and depravity, Sodom. But does the bible make any refernce to sodomy also being a sin between a man and a woman? (where the woman is the one being penetrated obviously, not the man)

Thanks.

Christian's protest about movies with unchristian themes such as the Northern Lights, which had to be watered down, and Harry Potter. I think we should start protesting against pro christian movies such as The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.

he has decided that sex b4 marriage is wrong. Well not just decided but he has always thought this because he was brought up a Catholic but at the moment he feels sex is stopping him from having a closer relationship with God. This is something i can understand, because the bible teaches sex with someone who is not your spouse is a sin, but i always felt as long as we are in a loving relationship this is ok, but i think i now see we shouldnt have sex. This is not really a problem. The problem is that he believes that wanking is also a sin. This is something i have always felt strongly about but i think he believes this because the Catholic church teaches that every sexual act shld be open to life (as the sperm shld be given the chance to make a baby, i.e it is sort of murder to ****) not sure if this is exactly what the church teaches but im sure someone will help me out. How can i be a Christian now i have had sex b4 marriage and how can i get him to understand wanking isnt wrong?

Protestants, Fundamentalists and non-Catholic Christians I regularly hear and read arguments against the Roman Catholic Church being the early Christian Church with claims of there being no Pope, no buildings, no statues of Mary in the first Church history. I now ask (using your own logic) how can Protestants, Fundamentalists or any non-Catholic group which would argue they are the rightful descendants of the Church of God if early Christians did not own private scrolls of scriptures or practice the tradition of carrying them to church with them?

This is extremely relevant as I hear non-Catholics criticize Catholics for not carrying bibles to church as if they are lesser "in the Word" and yet we don't read of this practice by early followers of Christ anywhere.
