don't confuse things.
If this person was from south America, or the southern tip of North America, a lot of tradition from Native American culture was infused into the Christianity. Some traditions still stand.
Many, when praying for the sick, believe that God casts spirit of sickness into the yolk of an egg, so they pray while holding a raw egg. To some of this, it may seem strange, but, to them, it's normal.
A lot of times, some of these are confused with "voodoo", when in fact, the intent is truely more Christian in nature.

Sounds fishy to me,who is the great power they are praying to, if it is God then why not say God.?
