Or is faith, itself, a gift from God?

In other words, is it impossible for an atheist or another non-Christian to “choose” to become a child of God without the supernatural intervention of God?

Faith is a gift of God

Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by GRACE you have been SAVED, through FAITH—and this NOT from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God— 9not by works, so that no one can BOAST.

so that no one can BOAST. If i generated saving faith then I could boast. Far be it from me, I give all glory to God!!

Sisterzea....you are dead wrong! if a person is being drawn there is no way they could refuse God!!! Man can resist God? Think about it

People have spirituality within and choose to "activate" their faith and beliefs follow once you awaken to that faith. In order not to be brainwashed, just stay away from mainstream religion and instead go to God Himself (pray to be led and to find answers). Also - I read somewhere that although there are many atheists, there are not so many that will blatantly state there is NO God, they lean more towards agnostic beliefs - meaning they don't really believe in God and there probably isn't one but that leaves a small probability

Not at all. But sadly, I think a lot of people walking around have this kind of gritted teeth faith and think it is the real thing. From my experience and from God's Word, I can tell you that faith is a GIFT. It is something that I didn't have one minute and had the next, and it isn't something I was seeking.

(God gave everyone Faith-it's just up to you how you use it...) I don't care who you are, you have faith...you don't have to be any sort of belief to have it, you just do...now, it may not be in God, or at Him at this time..it may be in something else..or lots of things...but, to have the "God kind of faith" you get this from His Word...even though we have faith, it is not "perfected" it's perverted...i can give you a car..this doesn't mean you will follow the driving rules, or not kill yourself or somebody else...therefore, you will be a "perverted driver" to be a good driver, you have to learn how to be one...and, you still have to look out for the other guy. this is how it is..everyone has faith..just perverted..not perfected...and this is why Jesus came..and all the rest of that stuff... "Peaced!" :)

Faith is not a gift from "God".Faith is the convincing of oneself to believe in something or someone.Anyone can make themselves have faith at any level. That doesn't make what they have faith in true.It just means that they have convinced themselves it is true.Which also just so happens to be the heart of a delusion as well.Depending on whether that "faith" is placed on something that has never proved itself to be worthy or true.

No, you have to come to God, with sincerity and a pure heart. You can't fool God..

But from there you will seek the LORD your God,. and you will find Him if you search for Him. with all your heart and all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 (NASB) ...

For me, "faith" is a thing I accept from learned, acceptable, ethical teachers until I do the analytical meditation and come to the same conclusion, or not, myself.

God draws someone at the Heart Level. I think we choose to say yes or no to that drawing from him.
