The bible is very open to interpretation in almost everything it says. Times have changed a lot since the bible was written also. What may have been deemed sinful back then, isn't now. Back then, it was a sin to eat shellfish and wear two types of cloth together. My mother is a Mormon and she says that she was taught that sodomy is a sin, but when asked about it, she didn't even know what it was. That's one thing that I've seen a lot when it comes to the bible. Many people misunderstand it. I read somewhere else that the bible might not say that homosexuality is wrong because it's two people of the same gender, but because it's not going towards procreation. Let's not forget that in the bible, God killed some guy because he pulled out and 'spilled his seed'. In the bible, sex is more for procreation than pleasure, so unless the semen was going towards fertilizing a woman's egg, then it shouldn't be happening. So for those time periods, sodomy was wrong, but honestly, what people do in the bedroom should be up to them.

RE:
Is heterosexual sodomy a sin in the bible?
Hi there, I ask this question seriously so I hope no-one is offended and that I receive serious answers. I know sodomy is even named after one of the cities of sin and depravity, Sodom. But does the bible make any refernce to sodomy also being a sin between a man and a woman? (where the woman is...

I'm going to have to agree with the person who gave the top answer. Although it isn't a sin to actually do the act, it needs to be done in marriage. This is because when one is out of marriage and is doing this, they are lusting after the partner, which is clearly defined as a sin in the gospel.

Yes. Sodomy in general is. I believe that the reason has something to do with health concerns. (that is a guess, but an educated one. Most of God's laws are to help US, through either preventing dangerous social forces, or dangerous health issues. (Which putting part of your body into someone's pooper is)).
Hope that helped

no. in fact the bible is really vague on a lot of stuff. i believe it was written that way so you could decide for yourself what is wrong and right. not all "sins" are black and white, some might be more subjective to your own values. so it's up to you. personally, i like performing sodomy on my girl, she like it too. so where's the harm? where's the "sin"? the bible is more a guide line, not detailed directions.

I do not think there is anything inherently wrong with anal sex between a married couple. The Bible does not address this specifically.
However, I think that our bodies were not designed for anal sex. The anus is for exit only. That is why you have to take so many precautions when having anal sex and there can be undesired side effects. Personally, I would stay away from it and maybe it isn't God will for us if our bodies were not designed for it.
Then again, the Bible does not speak clearly on this issue.
***UPDATE***
Please understand, despite what some are saying or saying they have heard, sex is not only for procreation. God designed our bodies and sex in order to bring us pleasure. You can honor God and have sex just for pleasure in a marriage.

If you are defining sodomy as anal sex, you have no basis for you definition, either biblical or via the american English language. Sodomy is sexual penetration between two people that are not married. Married people can sexually penetrate any way they want and it is not sodomy, not non-biblical, and not unlawful.

All references in the Bible to sodomy being a sin deal with man/man, woman/beast/, man/beast relationships. Nowhere does the Bible say that any type of sexual relations between a husband and a wife are sinful.

I am not sure of any exact references in the Bible, however I was always taught any sex that is not intended for procreation is considered a sin. That covers all the bases short of straight man on woman (penis to vagina) intercourse. I hope this helps.
