Well I guess the obvious choice would be a Christian professor. They still couldn't convince me that religion in all it's forms aren't a bunch of crap, but I'd imagine he would pose some more interesting points than an high school drop out. What are you getting at?

Why discuss anything with a high school drop-out? I am unlikely to further my knowledge or understanding. It would not be a discussion but an education session for him.
I would much prefer the discussion with the professor. Although were are on opposite sides of the position on theism I suspect that we would have a lot more in common. This is assuming that this is a real university professor, and not just one of the theistic diploma mills. Although ripping one of those guys to shreds might be kind of fun.

Well, my father is a highly educated christian professor. (Ancient Greek and Biblical Interpretation). He is the one person I LOVE discussing religion with. He is incredibly open minded about views that are different from his own and actually DISCUSSES it with me (rather than preaching at me like my mother does). Because of his level of intelligence (as well as my own) we are able to sit for hours in deep philosophical and theological conversation without being demeaning to one another or each other's beliefs. So if the professor is like that, I'd chose the prof.

Well I don't like the assumption that the Christian is highly-educated and that the Atheist is a high-school dropout.
Education aside, I would rather discuss religion with the one of the two that can have just as much respect for my beliefs as I do theirs. If either of them is going to rant, rave and try to convert me, then I end the conversation.

Ill take the highly educated Christian professor for 300 Alec
When I was in 5th grade CCD class I argued everything my teacher said, not because I didnt believe in God, I do believe in God, but as I have a brain, I question things that make absolutely no sense. He told my mom I was his best student ever.

I'd choose the highly educated one over the dropout, regardless of religious beliefs.

The professor. The dropout would lose interest. Anyway you can't have a good discussion with somebody you agree with
