Does it prohibit most of what you want to do?
How do you keep from going insane? or is that impossible?
Have you ever thought that the reason for those rules was to ensure that you behave how those in charge want you to behave?

scientology was founded by a science fiction writer named L. Ron Hubbard. They have 10 Million members.

"Writing science fiction for about a penny a word is no way to make a living, If you really want to make a million, the quickest way is to start your own religion."
~ L. Ron Hubbard

how can they still have 10 million members. and why don't all these organized religions (especially those wacky christians) realize they are part of a big pyramid scheme. i wonder how many christians would still be christians if they saw how much gold lined vatican city....and why doesn't the church sell it worldly posessions to help feed the poor? damn cults. bring on the cult babble christians. try to convince yourself and others you aren't in a cult. how do Hubbard's words affect the belief that you aren't in a cult?

Let's look at the meaning of "literal" -- 1 (a): true in each word and concept (b): adhering to fact or to the ordinary construction or primary meaning of a term or expression : actual (c): free from exaggeration or embellishment

Here's my question: Do you eat bacon? Shellfish? Ever worn poly/cotton blend clothing? Condone slavery?

But you still take Holy Scripture literally? How is that? Is it "all literal except for parts"?

As a former Muslim I can answer this quite easily. Basicly they meet a Muslim guy(who isnt religious) and do zeenah(fornicate).

Now as all men know who had relations with a woman of another culture, they suddenly want to be like you. They want to know all about your culture, they want to learn your language, they want to try out traditional clothing.

So she decides she wants to be a Muslim. She suddenly forgets all her previous beliefs, religious and political and moves to accepting all his beliefs, including polygamy, punishments, treatment of women, ect.

the 2nd reason some convert is this. Islam has many many rules and clear understanding of the qur'an, while the new testament for instance is not so clear and christianity changes based on the era, such as before usury was as evil as murder, now it is accepted. So they come across the qur'an and read some books and websites and come to like the stability of beliefs in Islam.

....for example; rock climbing - if someone lost their grip which caused the others, who were attached, to fall and dangle by the rope beyond reaching distance to the wall of the cliff. the weight of all the climbers put extreme tension on the rope and could possibly snap at any second if they tried to swing back toward the wall. the person on the bottom of the rope would have to cut himself free and fall to his death in order to dramatically increase the chances of his friends' survival... Would God send him to hell for doing such a noble act?

Many religions dictate something or some things that need to occur in order to reap the big reward after this life. You must live a certain way, accept a certain something etc.

What do you believe will happen to those who have never even heard of your religion, your God, your way of life?

For instance, there are still people living freely on the land in some countries in a manner that we would feel is "uncivilized". What is going to happen to them when they "die"?

Additionally, if they are going to Hell or whatever the consequence do you personally accept that as right or fair to penalize a human being for never having heard about your religion?

They say, oh you are lost when they don't even know a thing about you, just because they follow the herd who worship the Roman Governments version of Jesus. Sorry Christians I have a right to Yeshuah and I have worshiped him from babyhood, Baptized as a baby and when I got older Got baptized in a conscious way, and I still worship Him so don't give me your lack luster, bogus, bs lines about being lost. If you think this you are lost. I have not seen more judgemental people than fanatical Christians (yes there are a few other religions that are fanatical too. But you people judge your own followers to eternal damnation.

Let's say that everyone were atheist (to the point that the term itself didn't even exist), and there were no religion, no concepts or ideas of gods, etc.

Someone buys 30 minutes of national TV air time in order to pitch the idea of God, Heaven, the Bible (that several men -- some not even knowing the others -- had taken the time to write), and how you must accept this as absolute and undeniable truth, or you will suffer eternal consequences following your death, would the general public buy into it in 2007?

Why or why not?

Leaving aside the extreme violence for a moment (and there is plenty of that in the bible including genocide and bears attacking and devouring children) the sexual escapades in the bible would definitely earn it an XXX rating.
Solomon had how many concubines?
Lot did it with both of his daughters...
The list goes on and on.
Suffice to say, I won't let my kids read such a violent and pornographic piece of fiction that's for sure.

From what I gather your faith has its roots in a book called the bible. This book was written by males inspired by a God. This God comes from the Hebrew faith with a twist, the Son of a God written about in your book. Hebrews don't believe this version, they have their own version taken from Persia, Egypt and Greek religions. The bible is then the reason for many other Christian faiths with Jesus the Son of the Hebrew God as a common dinominator to all other Christian religions who argue about the meaning of the written words in this book. ( and they do argue) People have been killed because of this book. The words in this book are taken literally as fact by some Christians, while other Christians just except the premiss of the Son of the Hebrew God, but dismiss the book being factual in its written word. I don't want to comment on other books, gospels, religions, GODs, and dogma through-out time. The bottom line is the roots of your faith comes from 2000 yr males from the Middle East?
