I, for one, am soooo sick of this generalization being applied to all Christians.

I think the confusion arises largely, if not primarily, from the question of abortion. The "pro-choicers" claim that sex isn't just for procreation, therefore, if procreation happens to occur during sex, one is not morally obligated to that baby to preserve its life. The pro-lifers claim that no, sex isn't just for procreation, BUT it is understood that procreation is a common consequence of sex, and therefore, if you choose to have sex, you choose to live with those consequences and not to make another individual pay for your choice to engage in sex. If you make a baby during sex, you have a baby.

Biblically, sex is not presented merely for procreation. It is created as an important bond between man and wife. God tells us to delight in it, and that in its proper context it is an honorable, undefiled act. So to generalize that Christians believe that sex is strictly an act of procreation is extremely inaccurate. Even Catholics understand that sex is for pleasure, as well; once upon a time, many churches taught the "rhythm method" of pregnancy prevention. The Catholic church is against artificial birth control, largely on the grounds that should conception occur, some of those methods could be detrimental to the baby, prevent implantation, etc. Not all churches have ANY position on birth control.

Edit: Gee, my bad. Perhaps you should clarify who the "you" to whom you addressed the question referred to. Per your congenial request, I will now move on to one of the DOZENS of similar questions posted by people who (unlike you, apparently?) make erroneous assumptions about the Christian (or am I not safe in assuming it was directed at the Christian?-) view of sex. My apologies for apparently giving you more of an answer than you wanted, sweetie. Have a nice day.

It's not only fun, it's useful. My personal theory is that testosterone builds up and causes crabbiness. If hubby's being an ******, trust me--you can fix it in 5 minutes and he'll be in the best mood ever.

Some of us don't stop doing certain things after the wedding. ; )

Well it's primary purpose is procreation, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't enjoy it to excess!

I don't! We had our kids and now just enjoy being married and all the 'benefits' that come with it! :)
