Realisation of the fact that you are lost without the saviour, acknowledgement of the fact that you are a sinner, repentance from all your sins and a complete turning away from those sins, acceptance of Jesus Christ as your saviour and a fervent prayer to God for forgiveness. It is very expensive for someone whose pride will not allow him to accept God and who is interested in perpetually living a life of sin. All it takes is a little bit of humility.

Christianity. I have no idea what you think you know about salvation through Christian faith, but I assure you that ANYTHING that you are called to do as a Christian is a call, an expectation, a "toll," to use your word, BECAUSE YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN and not because you want to be saved. We are assured through the doctrine of predestination that God has CHOSEN those who would be saved. Those God chose, God calls to His son, Jesus Christ. Those God calls, God elects to be saved. So ... hopefully you can see that no one can possibly serve Jesus in any capacity BEFORE God has already chosen them to be saved! In fact, God made those choices for whom He will save before the foundation of the earth! We are not saved because we are wonderful or deserving or anything else. We are saved because ... a) We NEED to be saved b) God has showed mercy on us c) Our salvation is a free gift from God through His son, Jesus Christ So, once God chooses us ... once we are called ... once we become aware that we are the elect, yes, of course God expects certain things of us. That's part of His call! We are here to serve God, not the other way around! But again, you can't say that Baptism is a part of salvation. We are already saved. You can't say tithes are a part of salvation. We are already saved. You can't say that giving to the needy is a part of salvation. We are already saved. Etc. As I said ... the gift of salvation is free. In Christ

Depends upon the definition of salvation.

More than just verbally or mentally accepting Jesus as your personal savior, but Jesus himself said that "those who "endure" to the end will be saved." - Matt. 10:22

Then he says, "Faith, is the conquest the conquers the world." - 1 John 5:4

Also, the apostle James says, that more than just believing is invovled when it comes to salvation, "Faith without works is dead" -James 2:26

So the price of Salvation is: Endurance, Faith, and Work.

Salvation from what?

I know what you mean, of course - we're supposed to say "belief in Jesus," or "acceptance of Jesus as our personal savior," or "belief in the efficacy of His Precious Blood to wash away our sins," or some such schlock. And the idea is that we need to be "saved" because we're miserable sinners from birth, unworthy of God's grace; and yet such is His goodness and mercy that He sent His own Son to die for us. I know the party line.

I reject the idea that I'm diseased with sin from birth. I reject the idea that I need to be vicariously redeemed through the sacrifice of another. Christianity finds you guilty of an "original sin" that isn't yours, and "redeems" you from that sin via a sacrifice that isn't yours. It's nothing less than the complete abdication of personal responsibility.

Salvation is a free gift from God to anyone who will accept forgiveness. Living a life for Christ, well then you will have to count the cost, but its worth it.

For us, Salvation is Free!

You need only repent (turn from your sins)
and accept Jesus as your Savior (by following in His foot steps of Baptism and Life).

There is no price for us to pay. Christ paid it for us on the cross.
But we must accept HIM as our Savior and turn from our sinful ways.
