Is it true that a human being can know god personally?
The creator of the cosmos. Logically then those same people should know other important beings like Greenspan, Hillary, Gore?

i personally believe in god and jesus christ. no one can ever make me believe they dont exist. some one mentioned why god would ask abraham to kill his own son. they said god was not loving and caring to do that. but god also sent another sacrifice in his place for abraham. god was seeing how faithful and obidient abraham was. that is a loving god! why does every one try to take away the only good some people have by trying to convince them their is no god. be strong christians and god bless

I have ran into many people lately who feel as if the religion is more important than your relationship with God and this has thrown me for a loop. Doesn't having a personal relationship with God matter more than if you are catholic baptist methodist and what not?

Can we say something good about the ones we do not see eye to eye with?

No smart butt answers please, if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.

Some of the nicest people I know are non believers. I have respect for all as humans not based on what they believe or not believe, but as living breathing humans. If God gave us free will why do we get so upset if someone uses that? Lighten up and hug someone who you otherwise might not, trust me the world will not end at that moment, you may find you are embracing a new found friendship.

Everyone have a great day and remember life is too short to live in fear and hate....

Homosexuality is not mentioned at all in the Bible, in all there are only about five references to same sex acts and these may or may not be between gay men, Most likely Leviticus refers to men who had sex with their young male slaves, a common practice in those time, slaves seen as no ore than possesions, the other references concern attempted rape and temple prostitution or sacred orgies...neither of which are
usual features of committed gay relationships...men burning in their lust for one another in pagan temple orgies, again a common feature of the times when otherwise straight men had sex at the temple to unite physically with the god or goddess of the temple... No, to me this hardly bears much resemblance to loving gay relationships that may last 30-50yrs or more or to gay couples doing their weekly shop at the supermarket. The Bible does not mention gays at all.

On my last question, which was "What should atheists do with their problems since they can't turn them over to God?", one person suggested that my question was worded in error, since I can indeed turn my problems over to God, but choose not to. His understanding of atheism seems to be flawed by his inability to realize I honestly do not believe there is any God to turn my problems over to.

Do any of you admit to having this problem?

Wouldn't it be more logical for atheists to say, "I don't believe in evidence of a creator," instead of "there is no evidence of a creator," as most atheists would say? Simply because there is a possibility (and prove me if I'm wrong) of evidence either being overlooked, denied through either denial, misguided perception, or by ignoring or simply not finding the evidence that is out there?

This is for Brian and CJ and others with the same attitude. You constantly claim that the Bible is the sole authority and that Catholics do not follow the bible. If we are to follow only exactly what is written in the bible, then is it your opinion that it is okay to have sex with animals or engage in necrophilia? After all, Jesus never specifically condemned these acts.
Your personal doctrine appears to be only to follow exactly what is in scripture, and if it's not in scripture (ie: Mary's perpetual virginity, etc) then it is simply not true.

So, does the fact that beastiality and necrophilia are not condemed in the bible make these acts are okay?

Version, when he had the book of lehi already?
If it was that important for us to know, why would a simple issue like misplacing the translation prevent them from being reproduced? Is god that petty?

why is it so many, if not all, of the information which disputes evolution are either links to websites who's name is clearly associated with christianity, or if not, they are easily associated within a few links. example: you go to a website called something like modernscience.com. it seems legit, so you take a read. you start reading the information provided, and you notice it bears a striking resemeblence to creationism and intelligent design. you do a wiki search of the author of the website and voila!!! your search result has answersingenesis.com as the first link.

I have heard parts of it and have LOVED it. Has anybody here read it all and what would you suggest would be a good way to go about reading (the language used is a little tough.) My fiancee bought it and we want to read it together in preparation for our marriage next year. Any suggestions? Thanks :)

There is an awful lot of "doing" in that section.

I am SO SICK of feeling like a piece of meat on parade.

Seriously, is that what Jesus would do? I don't think so.

For those of you who have a close walk with God within a Christian community, do you allow your children to celebrate Halloween or participate in activities related to this day?
Why or why not?

Thank you in advance for your answers!

Throughout the New Testament the JW's have replace the word Lord with Jehovah. Even though this is not found in any of the Greek texts. The interesting thing is the exceptions. Where did they not change it? Lets look at 2 verses. In both the King James Version and the NWT.

1Peter (KJV) 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

1 Peter 3:12 (NWT) For [the] eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous ones, and his ears are toward their supplication; but [the] face of Jehovah is against those doing bad things.”

If you note in the above verses the word Lord in the KJV is changed to Jehovah. This is done throughout the NT by the JW's. But lets go a couple verses further down.

1Pe 3:15 (KJV) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

If the earth is made into a paradise after Armagedon..and the dead are brought back to life..What happens if the spouse of one of the dead..that has been resurrected..has remarried..? The previously dead spouse would want to reunite with his wife or husband..but, that spouse would be married to someone else..Does the Bible say anything about this potential problem?
