I'm not concerned in the least what atheists do or don't believe. I am happy in my beliefs and that's all that matters. Can atheists comprehend that many believers don't spend any time thinking about them or their beliefs? It's just not a priority.

Most Atheists come from a religious background, which refutes that belief. Personally I used to be a born again that 'felt' God, so I think I have a pretty good grip on understanding what it is all about. Christians will say I am wrong because they have to in order to maintain belief, but most Atheists that worked their way out of a religious belief system did so, because they finally got an unbiased pragmatic understanding of God. Sentinels statement that Atheism has no foundation in truth, is misleading because it assumes that religion does, however how can such a moving target be deemed as 'truth'. My guess is that he believes that only Mormons have the 'truth' foundation, and that is a faith based belief, and we all know how many faiths there are.

Okay, I'm a straight up fundamentalist. So hopefully this will help with your survey if that makes sense. I have no trouble believing that some people believe there is no God. I don't think I've ever posted a "But you know there is one" answer. I *do* find it perplexing that atheists would hang out on a religion board and admit that I wonder what that means about the particular atheists who do this --- if I didn't believe that there were such a thing as quilts, for example, I doubt I'd be hanging out on a quilting board trying to convince everyone else that there are no quilts in the world.
I'm sure there are people that have trouble believing that such a thing as atheists exist. Perhaps they have never met one, I am not sure. I'm sure there are little towns out there, more than likely in the midwest or in the south (where I am from) who have never met an atheist and think it's all a fantasy.
God *is* so real to me that I find it hard to imagine how someone *can* be an atheist. But I also find it hard to believe that anyone in the world can be a fan of Meatloaf (the singer, not the food) and yet there are Meatloaf fans. Just because I think something is misguided doesn't mean that there aren't people in the world who believe in that something (something in this case being atheism or Meatloaf).

Apparently I understand atheism a little better than you do. You talk about God in your question like he treats you like a red headed step child, how can he do this if he doesn't exist? What have you been doing about your problems up until now? If you are an atheist, then this has never been a problem for you. I think what really happened here is that you jumped on the bandwagon, I bet your parents are God fearing Christians and you come on here as a part of your teen rebellion. When you figure out which way you really want to go, then is when you will start to be happy, instead of coming on here putting others down because of your teen ansgt.

Actually this is the very reason I continually ask questions about my faith, while ultimately I know that my Christian faith is unshakable, I still hear about something and ask what or why something/someone is that way. I understand the logistics of atheists and atheistic viewpoints pretty well, I don't understand why they believe what they do, but hopefully, one day I will so that I can help assist in bringing truth to light in this matter.
I have technically been a follower of Christ ever since I can remember, but I only was a blind believer when I was younger and didn't know better, until I began to think for myself. Therefore, I can't honestly say I understand atheists to the fullest, because I have never been one. But I do know a large majority of the arguments that they use.
You see as Christians we are commanded to give answers as to why we believe as well as to give people the realization of truth. I don't really like the phrase "converting people" necessarily because it is not something we do but rather we are a "tool" that the Holy Spirit himself uses (ultimately, He's the one that causes people to come to a realization of truth.)

I believe that is a huge part of it. My neighbor / my friend is very religious. The first time I told him I was an Atheist he made a spooky noise... you know Oooo. I'm like dude you are so far off base. I don't believe in your devil just like I don't believe in your god. It took many conversations for him to understand and accept that I have not turned away from God, I don't believe in one.
I also received an answer similar to the one you gave as an example. I wondered to myself if he was just ignoring the fact that God does not exist in my eyes. I think they are sometimes confusing Atheist with Agnostic.

I understand it as far as I was an atheist at one time, my beliefs were, there was no God, there was no satan, the Bible was flawed and therefore a bunch of tales liek fairytales, Jesus was a prophet, but not a savior, I believed in the big bang, but would you believe when I took Biology in college I got an "F", so I really didn't understand evolution for which i was suppose to believe in. I thought miracles were done by just believing, a trick of the mind, but I could never trick myself into being healed, I believed after I died, i would be going to the nothingness of space and cease to exist.
However I did not feel tracked down by christains trying to get me to become christans I felt free of mormonism and free from brainwashing.

Yes I have run in to die hard Christains that just can not understand anyone that doesn't believe as they do.
I believe in God but also know what it is like not to believe. There times that I think it might be easier to accept the things that happen in this world if I didn't believe in God.

You don't believe because you have never had a revelation of God in your life.
I know him personally and we have an ongoing relationship that has lasted over 33 years and will continue on into the long ages of eternity.
Because I know God in this way I know that Atheism is one of Satan's favorite deceptions to lure people into rejecting God and spending eternity in the same place He will spend it.
Your problems that you don't turn over to God begin in your unbelief and will remain there unless you can somehow get past your unbelief enough to see your sin and your need of a Saviour before you die. If you fail in this you will place God in a position to condemn you forever. The Bible says that God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. He gave us a free will, and sent Jesus as the way of escape from eternal punishment. What you do with that is your business. The final determination is God's!
EDIT: HOW FOOLS DESPISE WISDOM AND INSTRUCTION!!!

Ummm... I can understand atheism. Heck, I can understand anything. But I believe I can turn my problems to God.
That being said, wanna be friends? I won't try to convert you or such. I'm just chill like that, but yes I believe in God.

Ask them why they do not ask Baiame for rain...
There are many people who are so engrossed with religion that the cannot comprehend atheism. This can be seen in questions like "If atheists don't worship God, what do they worship?"
