Homosexuality is not mentioned at all in the Bible, in all there are only about five references to same sex acts and these may or may not be between gay men, Most likely Leviticus refers to men who had sex with their young male slaves, a common practice in those time, slaves seen as no ore than possesions, the other references concern attempted rape and temple prostitution or sacred orgies...neither of which are
usual features of committed gay relationships...men burning in their lust for one another in pagan temple orgies, again a common feature of the times when otherwise straight men had sex at the temple to unite physically with the god or goddess of the temple... No, to me this hardly bears much resemblance to loving gay relationships that may last 30-50yrs or more or to gay couples doing their weekly shop at the supermarket. The Bible does not mention gays at all.

lady_ger...: Homosexual orientation is a normal human variation not a defect, without variation there would be no life on the planet, certainly humans would not exist.

You're right. But the "Christians" will not believe you and start pointing you at "scriptures," which are actually horribly mistranslated

I believe that true homosexuality is a birth defect. From my own studies on the subject, I believe that even though your gender is determined at the point of conception, during the first three months of gestation, things can go wrong, perhaps because of the diet of the mother or some other medical reason, to cause the sex organs to develop into the opposite sex. This, to me, would explain why a male would be feminine - because he actually has the genetic makeup of a female, but the physical characteristics of a male. And vice versa for masculine females. Christians are only repeating what they've been taught, or told by other people and actually try to base their lives on something that was said thousands of years ago by someone they don't know and have only heard of. I have trouble figuring that one out, too. Get ten different Christians and hear their individual interpretations of the same Bible scripture, and you'll get ten different explanations. I wouldn't worry to much about their beliefs, just because they believe a certain way doesn't mean they are right.

First, homosexuality is spoke of as an abomination to God in Leviticus, and the penalty became into demise. that's reported interior the hot testomony in Romans a million:26-27, declaring the two lesbians and adult adult males homosexuals. on your information, a girl's era is a factor of the curse in Genesis, alongside with soreness in childbearing. there became into no penalty od demise, yet cleansing, via fact the life is interior the blood, in accordance to Leviticus 17:11-sixteen, so it became into seen unclean. as properly, being a gay is by utilising selection, a girl has no selection approximately her era. It starts and ends at a definite age.

I'm a Bisexual Christian, so weigh my answer with that, please.

It is judged in the Book of Leviticus:
Leviticus 20:13
" 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

And that was the way the Old Covenant stated it, and it is in the Bible. Perhaps you are unaware of it.

That was the Old Covenant, and even in the Old Testament God foretold of the New Covenant. ( Jeremiah 31:31 - 33)
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah%2031:31%20-%2033;&version=31;

Not only there but in many places.

Under that New Covenant we are saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus. So the Law that I quoted in the Old Testament is a part of the Old Covenant - which couldn't save anyone. It was placed there partially as a foretelling of the Messiah, and also the way in which men ought to repent - since the Law only condemned. ( Romans 3: 19 - 20 )
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%203:%2019%20-%2020;&version=31;

So a sinner like me can be saved because of the new Law of Faith, which Jesus is the founder of.

But as many do, and I am ashamed, that Christians of legalistic mindsets pick one sin out of the Old Law - which condemns even them, and attempt to place it upon others.

What we are supposed to be telling people is of the Gospel, which is about grace, and the focus being on Jesus. IF Gos wants any particular person, they are given a conscience which causes them to 'be sorry for', and they turn to God in the hope that they may be forgiven for what they have done.

It is not about not being homosexual, it is not about being straight. It is about trusting in God because He gave His only begotten Son so that we can live. The Christians who are unrepentant about what they say to people like me have a surprise at the end of their journey. For they have hypocrisy and pride that retarded their ability to preach the truth.

Well since God put us here to procreate, and only a Man and Woman can procreate, then why would he not be against homosexuality, there is no procreation coming out of it, just lust, fleshy indulgence that's it. Leviticus 18:22 "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination."

depends on the translation. I actually agree with you, but the NIV, which many fundamentalists favor, has translated some words as "homosexual" to give themselves a biblical justification for preaching against the "sin of homosexuality" . also, as you've pointed out these particular passages tend to be more about sexual desire out of control than about loving same-sex interactions. and isn't it interesting that the focus seems to be on the sins of male homosexuality, as though lesbians either don't exist or are ok? is this the gospel according to Howard Stern? (no offense intended to lesbians)

Because it does.

In Genesis 19:1-29 the cities of Sodom and Gommorah were destroyed because the people were so wicked. The men of the city wanted to have sex with other men. So God's judgement on the city was to destroy it by raining down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah.

Leviticus 18:22 (speaking to men in Israel) "Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable."

Leviticus 20:13 "If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Romans 1:26-27 "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

1 Corinthians 6:9 "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders...will inhereit the kingdom of God."

1 Corinthians 6:13 "The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body."

1 Timothy 1:8-10 "We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers

What does the Bible say about homosexuality?

Rom. 1:24-27: “God, in keeping with the desires of their hearts, gave them up to uncleanness, that their bodies might be dishonored among them . . . God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.”

1 Tim. 1:9-11: “Law is promulgated, not for a righteous man, but for persons lawless and unruly, ungodly and sinners, . . . fornicators, men who lie with males, . . . and whatever other thing is in opposition to the healthful teaching according to the glorious good news of the happy God.” (Compare Leviticus 20:13.)

Jude 7: “Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them, after they . . . [had] gone out after flesh for unnatural use, are placed before us as a warning example by undergoing the judicial punishment of everlasting fire.” (The name Sodom has become the basis for the word “sodomy,” which usually designates a homosexual practice. Compare Genesis 19:4, 5, 24, 25.)

What is the attitude of true Christians toward those who have a history of homosexuality?

1 Cor. 6:9-11: “Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men . . . will inherit God’s kingdom. And yet that is what some of you were. But you have been washed clean, but you have been sanctified, but you have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God.” (Regardless of such a background, if persons now abandon their former unclean practices, apply Jehovah’s righteous standards, and exercise faith in his provision for forgiveness of sins through Christ, they can enjoy a clean standing before God. After reforming, they may be welcomed in the Christian congregation.)

True Christians know that even deeply rooted wrong desires, including those that may have a genetic basis or that involve physical causes or environmental factors, are not insurmountable for persons who truly want to please Jehovah. Some people are by nature highly emotional. Perhaps in the past they gave free rein to fits of anger; but knowledge of God’s will, the desire to please him, and the help of his spirit enable them to develop self-control. A person may be an alcoholic, but, with proper motivation, he can refrain from drinking and thus avoid becoming a drunkard. Likewise, a person may feel strongly attracted to others of the same sex, but by heeding the counsel of God’s Word he can remain clean from homosexual practices. (See Ephesians 4:17-24.) Jehovah does not allow us to go on thinking that wrong conduct really makes no difference; he kindly but firmly warns us of the consequences and provides abundant help for those who want to “strip off the old personality with its practices, and clothe [themselves] with the new personality.”—Col. 3:9, 10.

A good example where one's beliefs driveing their understanding and interpretation of scripture.

All sexual acts committed outside marriage are condemned, and marriage in Scripture is always the union of men and women, going right to the beginning of Genesis.

homosexual acts are clearly condemned and are considered sin... they are an abomination to God... that does not preclude a homosexual from Salvation... however the homosexuals damn themselves by refusing to obey God in not coming to Him as He prescribes..... All (homo or hetero)who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of salvation.... the overwhelming majority of both homo and hetero-sexuals refuse to come to God as he prescribes... thus condemning themselves...

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
