I have ran into many people lately who feel as if the religion is more important than your relationship with God and this has thrown me for a loop. Doesn't having a personal relationship with God matter more than if you are catholic baptist methodist and what not?

I don't worship any religion or even the Bible for that matter. I worship God and God only.

Yes, your Relationship Matters More than how you label yourself (christian, catholic, baptist, etc.) The only time it would make a difference is if you were claiming to be Mormon, Latter Day Saint, or anything like that because they "claim" to be christian, but they're really a cult. They have their own sets of "bibles" and "guidelines" that contradict each other and lots of hoaky viewpoints on christianity.
Otherwise, no, it doesn't matter how you label yourself. The only reason there is the variety is because people wanted to split away from the Roman Catholics and their rituals. For example, catholics do confessions, and baby baptisms, and the rosary beads; christians are more relaxed and do less through works. It's not your works that get you into heaven, it's asking Jesus in your heart as your savior. The catholics aren't necessarily wrong in doing thir rituals, but you don't have to ask forgiveness through a priest, if you know what I mean. God will be forgiving if you pray and ask for forgiveness yourself. Another example, Seventh Day Baptists don't work on the sabboth (saturday). Other branches of Christianity don't take that as seriously. The only difference between different branches of christianity is their rituals (the days they do/don't do things, their baptisms, their confessions, their fasting, etc.)

Yes it does. Having that relationship is more important than whether you call yourself a baptist or a methodist. I think some people get all worked up because, let's face it, there are certain denominations, like JW and the Catholic Church, that teach things that are quite unbiblical. It's important to make sure that, whatever your denimonation, you are being taught the actual truth from the Bible. If you are, great! If not, find a new church.

Religion is a way to categorize peoples beliefs. To take one god and split every little detail into different churches and belief systems.Religion is just saying you belong to one group and only believe a certain way... Having a personal relationship is so much more important.Having ideas of your own, reading about God whether it be the Bible or something else, and doing your own soul searching. Not one religion or person is going to be 100%.

Well the religion certainly comes with years and years of thought out tradition. Not that that is good, really. But as we are all individuals I think all Christians must have a basic personal relationship with God. Maybe I don't understand you question. I'll stop now.

Having a religion is like being in a club where you do things that try to benefit the whole. But you can't just decide on what you are and what denomination you are in. The only thing is how your relationship is with god and what church better suits you.

I take people on the merit of their actions. If someone who is vicious and mean tells me their a Christian, I believe their a bad person. If someone who is kind and considerate of others and is compassionate tells me their an atheist, I think their a good person. It doesn't matter what someone's religious beliefs are. It's all about how someone treats those around them.

Religion doesn't really matter to me, but only believe it is more about my God.

Ah, but what about all those other gods? Aren't they equally valid and likely? Doesn't what's in the hearts of their followers count?
