kwxilvr, Yes. For instance the issue of slavery which is allowed in Islam, they will say "oh that was for that period of time" and Polygamy they will say "well back then many women were widows"

Muslims who eat pork will say "well back then pork was dirty, but now there are regulations to its halal"

Hadith is where they really become hypocrites, such as Muhammad forbidden men to shave there beards, touching the opposite sex,ect.

Reason for many rapes in Pakistan is cultural as in what happened in North Pakistan a few years ago where a woman was gangraped. This is forbidden in Islam I should add.

As for other rapes, Muslims are not suppose to have contact with the opposite sex, and masturbation is haraam, so you can imagine what that is like.

Ollie G, you will find just as many Muslim scholars forbidden suicide bombings as you will those who support it. Islam forbids suicide, but extreme scholars will say it is justified if it is the only way to reach the enemy.

Gone Too Long, no the qur'an does not say that. In fact there are millions of white Muslims and some of the sahaba(those who converted to Islam during Muhammads lifetime and knew Muhammad) were white.

Technicly there is no race in Islam, though most Muslims identify by race and many are even racist

Socko, most do not hate Christians and Jews, though I have heard SOME Muslims showing obvious clear hatred for Jews. But they will not hate a Jew who converts to Islam. Muslims do think Jews and Christians are going to hell though

Islam is not as violent as people make it out to be, though culturally I find it to be backward.

You will find some women happy with Islam and some not. Depends on how there husband treats them, how strong there belief is.

Moderate Muslims technicly still have what most westerners would consider backward beliefs. Progressive Muslims are the ones who are more western and more likely to integrate.

about rape, if the woman is not covered, and is raped then Islam would say both the man and woman are at fault. 1 because the woman should have dressed properly and 2 because the man should not have even looked at her or touched her.

Islam allows men to have 4 wives and she can have her 1 husband.

Islam says that women are more emotional than men, so they can think more clearly.

The qur'an says that men are 1 step above women spiritually and many laws do give women less inheritance.

the qur'an says the man can smack his wife in the face once to show he is unhappy with her, only after he has denied her sex and a few other things.

Ann A actually many people leave Islam, infact there are people who pray 5 times a day, go to jummah salah but do not believe in Islam. They have to pretend to be Muslim or else they will be disowned or even killed by family or the community.

Why are men above women?

Things I have been told by muslim women:
A woman needs to cover herself to prevent rape because men cannot control themselves. If a woman is not covered and she is raped, it is her fault not the mans.
A man can have 2 wives but a woman cannot have 2 husbands
A woman lacks physical and emotional strength so men are put in charge of them by Alla
2 women equil one man
Men get 2/3 of the inheritance women get 1/3
A man can only beat a muslim woman if she rebels against him and only as a last resort.

1. Did you go on Hajj to Mecca and what was it like ?

It looks like a fine spectacle on film clips but us kuffar aren't allowed in Mecca, so I was wondering about it.

2. Did you encounter intimidation of people trying to convert out of Islam?

3) The sufi seem the nicest muslims. Did you find this to be the case ? Or are they intellectual for most folks? I read a book by Idries Shah but it was too subtle for me to follow.

Hi - I'm really concerned that you have left Islam and now proclaim yourself as agnostic. Surely this is very dangerous for you? Are you not told you can never leave Islam and if you do the worst thing to do is to not believe in anything at all? To become a follower of another monotheistic faith is preferable than to believe nothing. I heard that you could be killed for this in Islam.

I understand that that humans are not supposed to create false idols. In this vein, I can understand Muslims not putting images of Mohammed anywhere since it might take away from the worship of god.

OK, now I thought of two questions in this light.

First, if you can't have pictures of Mohammed because it can take away from god, how can you parade around with giant pictures of other people? Doesn't that take away from god as much if not more? As a parallel, the Amish do not create pictures of anyone because it would take away from their worship of god.

Second, why do you threaten to kill people who do create a picture of Mohammed? These people are not Muslim. They don't follow your other laws. They aren't even creating a false idol because they are not worshiping the picture or Mohammed. Why make such a big deal about of something so small?

That's to bad that you chose to put the Hadith(some truth & some false rumors) above The Holy Quran (direct words from the mouth of The One true God of Adam,Abraham, Issac,Jacob, Joseph ,Moses, David, Solomon Jesus & Muhammed)
But Allah does say(in Quran) that paradise is still for those who believe in him and the last day.
No other book is suppose to be put above The words (law) of Allah.

I pray that Allah will protect me and other Monotheists from rejecting faith as you have.

Why have you changed your views, it is very unusual in the muslim religion to do so but I believe there are many roads to God and even though I am not muslim I really feel for you, you sound disillusioned and angry, hope you find what you are looking for, best wishes.

Why don't Muslims speak out publicly against terrorism by other Muslims?
Is their religion as violent as people say it is? I have never read their holy book.

Being a former muslim probably skews your views towards Islam quite a bit. I mean, if I want to hear an unbiased evaluation of a guy, I don't go and ask his ex-wife what he's like...

Actually, yes:

We're always being told that most Muslims are moderate and peace-loving--but we never hear from those Muslims, and I wonder how many of them there really are. ARE there many Muslims who are really accepting of the rest of us? And do many Muslims feel friendly towards Jews, or are they mostly biased against us?

Hello- 1st off , a warm welcome to the Renaissance! Can you tell me why ,when the Father dies in a Muslim household -does the next male take over? even if he is only very young? This seems to breed a young generation of males who have never been told no- hence the high rape cases against Pakistani muslims.
