I have no idea how they will react. One day in the VERY near future something very similar to this will happen. Not just the holidays will be gone for them, but their religion also. This is when Religion is turned on. One day soon the governments will turn on religion and tell the world they are no longer allowed to practice religion, this is them turning on Babylon the Great. (When they turn on all false religion, they turn on ALL religion including the ONE TRUE religion that worships the one true God, Jehovah. They want to completly get rid of religion at this time!!!)Then how will they react when that happens? The very religion they have clinged onto is now gone. People are getting a very fair warning. Jehovah does warn people, just like he did in the days of Noah. He desires all to repent and for nobody to be destroyed, but sadly, some are so blind that they will never see the light. When they turn on ALL religion, Jehovah protects those who do his will. Granted those will be HARD times as we are told in the Bible it will be. The reward afterwards is the "real life" we wait for.
Very exciting times we are living in. :))))

I think if shown why they are pagan, those with a sincere heart may stop celebrating them, but most people, especially clergy know the origins and just don't care. They "tickle the ears" of their parishioners.
The bible does show that Babylon the Great or False Religion will fall, and the merchants will weep, because of all the lost revenue.
Rev. 18: 11-19 "Also, the traveling merchants of the earth are weeping and mourning over her, because there is no one to buy their full stock anymore.....The traveling merchants of theses things became rich from her, will stand at a distance because of (their) fear of her torment and will weep and mourn, saying, "Too bad, too bad - the great city, clothed with fine linen and purple and scarlet, and richly adorned with gold ornament and precious stone and pearl, because in one hour such great riches have been devastated...."

I think a far more important question is; "What would happen if the pastors and church leaders in this generation would call Christians to repentence for their lack of love for God and the world around them.
We have become so desensitized to sin and so oblivious to the reality of eternity that it is no wonder that people scoff and laugh at the weak presence of Christians who won't take a bold stand and rebuke sin in and out of the church.
Multitudes are headed for eternal suffering in a Lake of Fire while people like you are wasting time on trivial things. When you and every other Christian gets to the point where God wants us to be then those things will be dealt with as the Lord speaks to individuals as well as churches. Not before.

People are adaptive. They would take the pagan holiday and put another in its place and celebrate that. Of course, that is how they got to celebrating pagan holidays in the first place. They might change the days up a bit. Do christmas in July instead of December.

while the Christian church grew to become into attempting to learn skill and grow to be the biggest faith in the worldwide, they observed that they could might desire to do something to catch human beings to maintain on with their teachings. The pagan trip journeys have been around for hundreds of years in the past the Church existed, so with a view to catch human beings faraway from the ideals they had accompanied for generations upon generations they created Christian variations of all of them. because of the fact of this Christians have fun the delivery of Christ as being on around an identical time as Pagan yuletide, and Easter is widely known around an identical time as Eostra or Ostara. by skill of ways, the belief of a bunny delivering eggs is in trouble-free terms a paintings of merchandising, it has no foundation in any perception.

They would have to shut down the churches!
My husband's father was a preacher in Christendom and they "hired" another minister to come in and fulfill his duties that he was getting too old to handle.....anyway, to make a long story short, this new man actually "outlawed" Christmas and showed his parishoners that it was pagan. No more Christmas programs and definitely no christmas trees in the church and in the homes.
They ran him out of town, literally! They were so up in arms over this tidbit of truth, that he was no longer welcomed....sad
when people refuse to see the error of their ways!

um, nothing, most church leaders don't want their followers trick or treating, but most of the followers still do.
I think non regular church goers have the idea that church leaders have a lot power over it's followers, but, they have NONE. At least, not your average, every day church.
I go to church on Sunday, and then, I go home, drink some beer, hang out with friends, and sin with the best of them, and in some people's eyes, this is the life of the average church goer.

The fanatics would stop celebrating. The hypocrites would tell the other church members they stopped but wouldn't. And the entire church community would make it difficult for the rest of us to celebrate as they would be fighting our attempts to decorate and have access to the festivities because of the perceived evil of the holiday.

depends on the denomination. most people, Christian or not have sentimental attatchments to Christmas and Easter, even though the Christian justifications for celebrating these just don't hold up at all to scrutiny. some congregational churches actually try to adhere to the Jewish holy days and festivals, to keep them in biblical integrity. it's actually kind of admirable, but can also be divisive as people start trying to "outrighteous" each other by digging through the OT for traditions to adopt

Some would follow their advice and some wouldn't. The same is true of ANY message they deliver.
And, by he way, very few religious leaders (of the Christian variety anyway) TELL people what to do. They offer guidance, but never issue edicts other than those overtly stated in the Bible (e.g., the Ten Commandments).
