The following excerpt is from the question I posted on Joseph not getting credit for being Jesus' father.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AidazvBDw_zDbJVIKpsmwfTsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070929204318AAg5Via

katydid answered:
"... the Bible also tells the account of Joseph. When he found Mary to be pregnant he could have had her stoned to death by Jewish law. He loved her and decided to quietly end their engagement. An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him the child was the son of God....and that he should not be afraid to take Mary as his wife. Just to be real clear...we are given the added detail that Joseph did not have sexual relations with Mary until after she gave birth."

If what katydid writes is true, and I have heard this from other sources, Joseph took Mary as his wife when she was already pregnant, hence, he DID NOT knock her up. What if somebody else did, and it was NOT God? Shroud of Turin DNA could answer this question also.

O Lord, you have searched me and know me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
.....you discern my thoughts from far away.
You search out my path and my lying down,
......and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
......O Lord, you know it completely.
Where can I go from your spirit?
......Or where can I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there;
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there.
If I take the wings of the morning
.....and settle at the farthest limits of the sea,
.....even there your hand shall lead me,
.....and your right hand shall hold me fast.
................Psalm 139: 1-4, 7-10

I am praying tonight for all who is hurting, lonely, sick, and whatever else is needed...... I am praying for healing ~!~

Something about this concept confuses me. God incarnate, as his own father, his own son and his own holy ghost.

"For (God) so loved the world, that he gave (his) Only Begotton (Son)"

"I came to do the will of (Him) that sent me"

"(Father) if it be be possible, may this cup pass from me, not as I will but as thou will"

"(Father) why hast thou forsaken me?"

"(Father) forgive them for they know not what they do"

"(Father) who art in heaven hallowed be thy name"

"I will send you (Another) comforter who is The Holy Ghost"

So if Jesus addresses his Father, and the major "Chrisitan" religions of the day teach that Jesus is his own father, his own son and his own holy ghost. Are they not teaching false doctrine? I mean is it truly plausable that a Diety would be Inbred?

in this patriarchal society, how did woman get stuck with blame if a deity gave the command directly to a woman, then she is blamed and given quite the chore and tail end of the punishment?

I'd rather get Adam's punishment any day, no matter what sex I was born...big deal work hard...that has moral and honor

I like Valhalla because I get to hang out with Odin and his ravens and as we all know Scandanavian chicks in Valhalla are really hot.

But then the Christian heaven is nice because it's very cloudy and there's angels and you get to party with Jesus. And there's supposively a lot more people in heave to hang with.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what religion I should pick?

If Adam and Eve didnt eat the 'fruit', then how would any of us be alive today?
I mean, I could be crazy, but intercourse is an essential process if a population is to expand.
Also, to those who believe in an age of the Earth no greater than 10,000 years, how could 2 people possibly bring about a population of 6 billion in such a time-frame?
Why was there a snake in the garden in the first place? In my opinion, it was a bit of a silly move. Maybe God could have given them some critical thinking skills so they would not be so suggestible?

I'm also totally confused how God, omnipotent being that he is, allowed and allows the Devil to exist? Surely with a mere word he would be rid from the Universe. The whole conflict in heaven thing doesnt really stack up in my mind. There wouldnt be a conflict if one of the parties is all powerful.

Our conscious is God's moral law written on our hearts so that we would know right from wrong. It is proof that there is a God. But you do not believe that. So by what authority is there to apply morality to mankind. Why should murder, child abuse, adultery, perversion, stealing, lying, ect... be consider wrong. What prevents anarchy?

The logical conclusion to the belief that we evolved is that men can do what ever is right in their own eyes. By what right does one evolved man have to enforce his view of right and wrong through laws over another evolved man?

What say you highly evolved animal?

"The true meaning of prayer is to use one's life force in the most positive way for the betterment of one's personal life as well as the world; it is a fundamental part of human life." This was written in response to the following question and attributed to Masami Kondo of "The New York Times" (Look at Joyousam's answer):
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ai.HRMGoHPCl.FgaL3rZNyzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070930165206AAo7j0G&show=7#profile-info-soZDKd4gaa

I couldn't agree more with Joyousam here. I remember twice attempting to say that I prayed although I was an atheist, and being attacked by all sides. I consider prayer to be exactly as Joyousam puts it (and far less wordy than I could!;-) - utilizing one's life force to send positive and healing energy. Whether in supplication to a god or to humanity - we pray in our kindness, our compassion and love. It is not so much whom we pray to but the energy we send from ourselves.

Agreed or no? Why?

Deut 22:13-21- if a man marries a woman and then decides that he hates her, he can claim she wasn't a virgin when they married. At that point her father must prove she was a virgin. (How is not explained.) If he can't, then the woman is to be stoned to death at her father's doorstep.

If you see a pretty woman among your captives and would like her for a wife, then bring her home and "go in unto her." Later, if you decide you don't like her, you can simply "let her go." Deut 21:11-14

If a betrothed virgin is raped in the city and doesn't cry out loud enough, then "the men of the city shall stone her to death." Deut 22:23-24

Lev (12:2:5) it states, "If a woman conceives and bears a male child, she shall be ceremonially unclean seven days...if she bears a female child she shall be unclean two weeks...."

Exd 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

Of course, maybe this is all metaphor and allegory right?

are also devoid of Sacraments?

I wonder why that is? I am sure you have seen the play on words bumper sticker: Know Jesus, know peace (No Jesus, no peace).

The same can be said about Mary. No Mary, no Jesus.

Fundamentalists and Evangelicals would have us believe that God Almighty would use and abuse Mary, and that once she gave birth to Jesus, God tossed her aside as a useless vessel. This is outrageous and offensive to our Lord and Master, Jesus Chirst, that we could even think of dishonoring Mother Mary, the first Christian, and the first Disciple of the Lord.

It is no coincidence that denominations that forget about Mary also do not celebrate the Eucharist, nor have any valid Sacraments. Their churches resemble more corporate office headquarters and banks than actual churches -- if the pastor has any type of success. There are also hack ministers who hold services in warehouses and delapidated buildings. It is really quite sad and pitiful.

How come these three totally different believes still go under the name of christianity? And how did that happen?
