The following excerpt is from the question I posted on Joseph not getting credit for being Jesus' father.

katydid answered:
"... the Bible also tells the account of Joseph. When he found Mary to be pregnant he could have had her stoned to death by Jewish law. He loved her and decided to quietly end their engagement. An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him the child was the son of God....and that he should not be afraid to take Mary as his wife. Just to be real clear...we are given the added detail that Joseph did not have sexual relations with Mary until after she gave birth."

If what katydid writes is true, and I have heard this from other sources, Joseph took Mary as his wife when she was already pregnant, hence, he DID NOT knock her up. What if somebody else did, and it was NOT God? Shroud of Turin DNA could answer this question also.

doofuswoolie,
If you don't have anything intelligent to add, don't bother answering. I am trying to understand religion better. Maybe I should stop using the term knocked-up. It is a little disrespectful. Sorry to anyone else for that term.

rayhab,
I have grown up believing that story, but now I question it. My questioning of my religion is a product of my education. I have been trained have to proof before believing anything. Now I am applying this reasoning to biblical heresay. This wreaks havoc on my spirituality which I am struggling with.

Mary, another unwed teen mother...

Unfortunately the Shroud of Turin was probably created during the Middle Ages - according to carbon dating of the fabric, so is unlikely to have any of Christ's DNA.

Feel free to read Isaiah 53....God said it would happen.
Certain things are predestined that are your salvation.
If Jesus is not the Son of God born of a virgin then we argue in vain because we all perish in our sin.
