I believe this speaks of the exact same event we read of in Revelation, consider ...

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God." - Revelation 19:7-9.

The "good" person has their enemies, for the friendship of the world is enmity with God. And yet, Psalm 23 reminds us that is spite of, and in sight of, our enemies, God sets a table for us. It is the same as eating at the table of family, while those who are not family, stands at the door, or looks through the window to watch. How refreshing is the calm bravery of the Lord to do that for us. Thou preparesth a table invisions the slow preparation of the ornaments, and the plates and the dishes. Nothing is hurried, there is no confusion, no disturbance dispite the enemies at the door. To me, it is the peace that I have most of the time even in the midst of trying circumstances.

I think this particular scripture encourages us that God provides for us in abundant ways, remember a verse soon follows that says "my cup runs over". It is an awesome testimony to God's providence. It is also remindful of the table at the Last Supper at which time Jesus was soon to face his enemies and his death. Again God is the abundant provider, giving us His ultimate gift of salvation through Christ.

this could have a couple of answers. David was preserved and kept and even adored in the presence of Saul and his army when this was written. I believe the spiritual application for us is that while Satan tries to stay the work and blessings of God, He still blesses us with faith, courage, his word, his promises, and endurance. No matter how much Satan tries, he cannot seperate us from the love of God

Sister Sandy, you always ask such good q's.

This one reminds me of the book of Esther, when Haman prepared a gallow for Mordecai, because he wouldn't bow down to him, and of course the king ultimately had Haman hanged on the gallows the he built, and also ultimately Mordecai was revered in the land. And all of this was possible because Esther was obedient and faithful.

To me this says one that God is such an awesome and faithful God that, if we are not only faithful but obedient and trust in him that he will not only prepare a way out for us he will use our enemies to do it, while they are thinking that they are preparing to harm us.

Thanks for asking this question it reminds me of just how awesome our God truly is.

Praise his name!
