The answers of Jayasri and hladini shakti mataji's are correct.

This material world is known as 'kunta' meaning 'anxieties'. Since the world we live in is filled with anxieties of lamentation and hankering but never real peace and happiness. But there exists a world which is beyond this manifestations of anxieties and temporariness and that place is said to be 'Vaikunta' the abode of Lord Krishna or Vishnu.

Again in Vaikunata, as Srimad Bhagavatam explains, there are many planets and in each of the planets, Krishna expands and shares relationships with his devotees in the form of Narayana, Lord Ramachandra, Lord Nrsimha etc.., and out of all the Vaikunta planets, the Headquarters is the place of Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead which is known as Goloka Vrindavana. Here Krishna exhibits his pastimes with most of his devotees in madhurya-rasa ( mellow of lovers) and the Vrindavan present in Uttar Pradesh of India is a replica of the Goloka Vrindavan in the Spiritual World.

One can go to Vaikunta planets when one's consciousness is purified by constant practice of the holy potent names of Krishna and as stated in Bhagavad Gita, remembering the Supreme Lord, Krishna at the most crucial time of death.

I am not Sanskrit scholar, but i learned from Srila Prabhupada's books. And this is his translations.
Kuntha means anxiety and
Vaikuntha means "without anxiety"

Example from Srila Prabhupada's lecture.
Just like a government has got two departments: criminal department and civil department. So the government is the same, but there are two departments. This mäyä(illusory energy of Krishna in this material world) is criminal department, and Vaikuntha(spiritual world) is civil department. Vaikuntha means there is no anxiety, and mäyä means always anxiety. Sadä samudvigna-dhiyäm asad grahät [SB 7.5.5]. Because we accepted the jurisdiction of mäyä, they are asad-grahät. Asato mä sad gamah. Therefore the Vedic instruction is, "Don't remain in this asat." Om tat sat. "Go to the real life." Jyotir gama. "Don't remain in the darkness." This is Vedic instruction.

"Vai" =To become languid or weary or exhausted, to be deprived of, to blow.

Kunta= to cripple

So that, the literal meaning of "VAIKUNTA" is the place where the the wings of languid`ness or weari`ness or exhaustibility or opposition or any type of sudden outbreak of emotions.........have been crippled. Totally; "the place where the absolute peace of mind and Bliss is there"

1) Vaikunta= Name of Vishnu/ Indra/ Kaushup/ Statue of Vishnu.
Or the 24th day in the month of Brahma; A kind of measure in Music; Name of Vishnu`s heaven variously described as situated in the Northen Ocean or on the Eastern Peak of Mountain Meru Parvatha.

2) Vaikuntatva= Being Vishnu.

Vaikunta or Paramapadham is the abode of Lord Vishnu. It is the place of eternal bliss, exclusive to the Lord, his eternal consort Lakshmi, and the three-folded serpent Sesha Naga, upon whom the Lord and his wife rest.

It is also the name of a three headed Image of Lord Vishnu, where one head is a Lions Head (Narasimha-Avatara) one (the central) is human and one is the head of a boar (Varaha-Avatara).

According to Sanskrit Etymology. Kund or Kunda is worry, trouble, missery etc. Vi is just added to say the negativity of anything. so Vi-Kunt or Kunta is worry less, trouble less memoryless. So in word it is Vaikunta which literally means Eternal. -

This place may exist in side ur own body or in the whole environment where u r residing accompanying others people also.

U can say detachment in attachement or dipping inside the ocean still none of the drops can touch ur body or like u r behaving like a observer who cant manipulate things passing through ur own body still u can see .

Literally knowing kuntha(worry-anxiety) so that u can vai(free) from it.

Without anxiety is what it literally means. Kunta is anxiety and Vai is without. The spiritual world is without any misery. That is why it is called Vaikunta. May we endeavor for this most wonderful place. I pick Goloka Vrindavan which is the top most eternal spiritual planet in Vaikunta. Thanks ji

I think Vikunta is LORD VENKATESHWARA'S place and people call Tirupati as vikunta and Lord Balaji [vishnu] as kaliyuga daivam [God of kaliyugam].

People go to heaven [vikuntam] when they die [i think].
