If so tell me your stories. I think I saw an angel when I was 4 because I choked on some plastic wrap and saw someone come out of my dad's bedroom and smile at me and point to my dad. I ran over to him and he saved me. My dad swore there was no one else there, weird huh?

Does anyone actually read their bible anymore?

Paul speaks to being content with food and clothing and not peddling the word for profit, or using godliness for financial gain.

Jesus said to freely give as you have freely received.

What don't people understand about being deceived by wolves in sheeps clothing in the last days?

why didn't he write any of the bible? he had to be literate and most likely a polyglot as well. he is god... he could have taken care of not only writing part of the bible, but rewriting the whole bible as well, and translating it into a number of languages. but for some reason, in his entire life, he didn't write one meaningful verse which made it's way into the bible. how come?

I'm just wondering here. There's Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Grandparent's Day. Well, what about those who have chosen not to propagate the species? Why is there such a social stigma on people who choose not to have children?

There are some users trolling R&S and distracting attention from Chuck Norris who is the main point of this category. That makes me mad >:( Everyone should ask something related to Chuck Norris in R&S tonight, ok?

I read in a magazine ages ago about a story of this scientist (I forgot the name of all things). It was the time of the French revolution so all the French royals and their cronies had met their fates under the guillotine; this scientist was included.

Any way, this scientist, for all the love of knowledge and experiment, asked himself: Is a decapitated head still aware that it has separated from the body? So he asked his friends that when it was his time to be under the guillotine would they please count the number of times his eyes close and open after his head has seperated from his body.

And so his friends did. After the decapitation, the scientist's eyes squinted around 10-12 times, as told by his friends. The scientist, unfortunately, cannot put it on writing because he was busy being dead.

So what do you think? Did this prove something?

At church last Sunday they were talking about how the end is near because the church is losing its population greatly. In 1974 the church had over 500 people. In 1986 it dropped to 300ish. Now in 2007 it only had around 100 people going. Maybe even less. And Ive noticed more and more people taking seats in the back, and leaving many rows empty at the front, maybe ebcause they didnt want to get caught talking, or not paying attention, I don't know. Could this be a falling away, and a sign of the end?

If it were true, there'd be no points of contention. Perhaps the "truth" isn't found in the form of a religion. Your thoughts?

Not a baiting or trolling question... Some people might be offended, but that's not my intent.

What I want to know is this - there's an old cliche regularly bandied about here on R&S about how atheists can understand right and wrong.

For me, the question is simple - it's my conscience.

When people actually ask how someone who doesn't believe in some musty old book can have learnt right from wrong, it makes me wonder if they ask the question because they have no conscience themselves?

Or do they just suppress that conscience when it contradicts their musty old books?

What would you add in it?
It can be religious, something you want people in the world to know or just something that you'd like people to know on the R&S specifically.

How does an atheist decide whats right and wrong?
What do you base your morals values on? and why would they be good for the society? Question if you where in a dark ally where theres alot of crime, and you were by yourself when all of a sudden 10 large men started walking towards you... Question would it or would it not make a difference to you if these men were just getting out of a Bible study?
Give an intelligent answer if possible...

seriously...why do people have such a problem with us? I don't understand it. It's not like we go around converting everyone
well, no I won't speak for every Jew out there b/c that's not fair.
but as far as i know most of us just mind our own business
so why does everyone hate us so much?

I'm not suggesting the guy who asked that question denies evolution. I have no idea what he believes. I just thought this was the next logical question to ask.

He was a really great friend and never would hurt anyone. He died a few weeks ago.. and i just want to know so bad if hes in heaven or a better place.. please give me some opinions and let me know what everyone thinks

Don't you jsut find it strange that atheists would bother to look at something they despise? I find it very odd because they are just wasting their lives on something they don't believe in. Correct me if I'm wrong
