Psalm 6, when I have been hurt by others, because it ends with asking that the that the offenders become suddenly ashamed, not for any revenge. Psalm 51, the sinner's prayer because David was bold enough to ask for a new heart, knowing that God could do even that.

Psalm 51

In his sorrow and remorse, David wrote Psalm 51 which is a humble prayer for forgiveness and redemption. He also recognizes that his sin is a sin against God, and only God. He can be forgiven and redeemed of this sin only by laying it at God's feet, and offering repentance humbly before Him. Once forgiveness is asked with sincerity, however, it will be freely given. The sin is washed away and the spirit purified and renewed. That is why the Psalmist tells us that the only true sacrifice, the only sacrifice that really means anything, is "a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart." To be cleansed and redeemed of our sins, we must admit that we need God.

Yet it is also a psalm of joy, because it reflects the limitless capacity of God to forgive. David's action toward Uriah the Hittite was one that most of us would consider shocking and probably unforgivable; David himself recognizes the depth of the depravity that led him to commit this act; and yet he also knows that his salvation is assured through God's love and forgiveness.

My favorite is Psalm 23.

Some others that come to mind are Psalm 1, 46, 91, 103, 119, 127, 128 & 150. God bless ya!

Ps. 23
1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm 46

1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

8Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
