Not only that but slavery and rape is okay according to the bible. How can you possibly call this guy a loving god? I'm serious. This is a very serious question.

Let's say that you were once a Christian, like myself - for over ten adult years - and then because honestly, honestly, ...honestly - The more I learned about religion and specifically Christianity, the less reasons I had to believe it all until I felt embarrassed for having ever believed all that stuff...

So now, I am a confirmed atheist, happy and moral - so what do you think will happen to me when I die?

i) Does Allah have absolute power?
ii) Can Allah change his own words?
iii) Can Allah have power to send more prophets for guidance?
iv) Does Allah have power to make another Allah?
v) Does Allah have power to make his son if he wants?

If 'yes' for all then why do Muslims curtail the power of Allah, just for opposition of Christianity?

I read somewhere the church has an amazing amount of wealth, and that it is in not really understood by most people how much economic possession that it holds.
something like gold reserves, I'm not sure.

Is it true?

It rained tonight, for about two minutes, here in Surprise, AZ. I counted the raindrops on the sidewalk out front as they fell. Tiny splash, one. Even tinier splash, two. And even though it lasted such a short time, I had my family rush to the door and we all went out into the now cool desert night and danced about like a mosh pit of four. It was such a little thing, and yet, it was a celebration, like the fourth of July, New Year's Day and Christmas all wrapped up in one inconsequential sprinkling. I will still have to water the lemon trees tomorrow, and now the little drops in the desert dust on our vehicles make them look like the have the poxy. But, I will remember my son Santiago running about under the streetlight, trying to catch raindrops on his tongue, and my wife, Chili, giggling, and doing a pogo dance over by the palm trees.
Here is the question:
Why aren't there more moments like this in life?

When the Catholic Church clearly had a part to play in the matter by keeping silent just so they could get a monopoly on the German state? Hitler also was an occultist, which is kind of a religion, don't you think?

No matter what religion you have, we could find something that we both believe to be stupid. Like mass sucided to be saved by a alien race(heavens gate cult) OR.....

Like praying to a plant. What makes praying to plant "stupid" and what makes praying to a cross not "stupid"?

I recently lost my father, and have been having some trouble dealing with it. I try to live my life normally, but I can't help thinking about death and dying. The fact that he's no longer here. The fact that one day, I won't be here. What happens after you die? Why do I care so much about my job and sports when it really means nothing? Or does it? If you beleive in life after death, do you still have the same interests after life than you had during life? Will I be able to be in heaven and see my loved ones? Will I be able to look down and watch football? Wouldn't heaven be overcrowded? So many questions and no answers. I know no one has them, but what can I do to stop thinking about this?

I am an atheist by the way. If it's a friend, I don't mind because I can tell them off and they usually know better than to discuss religion with me. But if it's a relative or an acquaintance, I HAVE to be nice to them for my family's sake esp. my parents--who would rather have me tell lies than say that I am irreligious.

Of the book of mormon. Does he believe he will go to the planet Kolob when he dies and have his own planet to be a God over other people?? Do you know they even named a town in Utah Kolob? This is what his so called prophet taught! The things they taught and some things they teach now totally contridicts the Bible. It is impossible to embrace their beliefs and embrace the Bible too.

I think I would be pert near naked without my "attitude". What happened to W.'s "No Child Left Behind" initiative that would allow this poor child to slip through the cracks of an education.

If you were to pose a serious question on the Religion and Spirituality forum, would you consider the perspectives of those who answer to be typical of society in general.

Would you trust this site as a reliable source for answers?

I've been called a faciest, weak minded, idiot, brainwashed, afraid and stupid tonight on YA for being a Christian. Who is your favorite atheist on here. There used to be someone called Spooky that I really respected that never lowered himself to name calling. Unfortunately, he hasn't been on here in awhile.
Now, before I upset anyone, there is a valid argument for the fact that atheists are bashed on here too. As are Muslims and others, but I'm only speaking to my own experience tonight on line. If you feel left out, tell us who you're favorite Christian or Muslim is on YA.
