Here is what I hear in the answers so far:
Christians try to shove their beliefs down the throats of Atheists.
And Atheists don't care if you believe in God or not.
Here is what I hear all throughout R & S :
Those who will do everything they can to demean and mock God and those who follow Him.
Conclusion - I think some do care and for whatever reason, want to put down believers.

Joe, why do you think atheists are interested in what you believe? I can't speak for others but I really don't 'care.' That's not what atheism is all about. An atheist is a person who does not believe gods exist--period. Nothing more, no 'hate,' no interest in what others believe, simply that gods do not exist.

It's a matter of self-preservation. If there were no Atheists there would be no individual rights, no freedom of inquiry, no pursuit for the truth, no meaning to use logic, no scientific discoveries, inventions, progress. Faith in the existence of an all knowing, all powerful being who pre-existed and created the universe and who is responsible for everything that happens in it makes the application of reason pretty useless, makes this life meaningless, makes humans just a number of created objects in the midst of many others that have only one purpose: to serve, obey and join the almighty consciousness for eternity in the afterlife.
After all, you can't take all the beautiful comforts of this life to the next one. So, had it been for the faithful, what's the use of improving this life? This life, for the faithful, is best spent in prayer, in preparation for the next. But the faithful are never consistent with what they preach. They can never live their faith to the full. If they did, why get medicines to get better, why try to live longer when eternity with God is pure bliss. The faithful tell others the virtues of the Afterlife, but hypocritically act very much like Atheists do, they love this life.
Atheists are honest and consistent. What they say is what they live. This integrity seems to frighten and offend the religious people. They wish reality would bend to their commands and be what it is not. Religious people can't face reality for what it is, so they invent one to believe in. But reality doesn't care what people wish it to be. True religious people prepare for what they really believe in: the afterlife. They have no use for improving this short life. The true religious people live of alms and spend their time in contemplation of God. If the whole world were like them, we'd live like in prehistory. The act of improving on one's life is an act of atheism. It is the confirmation that we value this life, we value our reasoning minds, and we value improving the way we live.
Fortunately, religious people do not live as such. They live as atheists. They are as concerned about their wellbeing on earth as any atheist is.
Atheists belong to the section on spirituality because they live according to the "spirit" of being human: their maximum reasoning ability.

Many atheists do not care, however there are those who are adamantly against the false beliefs and false hope and false expectations of believeing in God. Thus they fight for or speak against what they personally think is wrong, like different movements like PETA to CARE to Amnesty International to....

I find it interesting that you never said you actually believed in God, however most of the people who answered you assume you do. Just seems like you riled up the atheists

I *don't* really care... I do however care that you and/or some of your kind adamantly demand that I join your view.
And yeah, people do get to poking fun at believers. In a world where we are the minority and there isn't much we can do about it, well what else can people do to try to deal with the frustration of being able to change anything...

Because a mind is a terrible thing to waste.
If everyone were to realize that there is no god, then mankind would take control of his own problems rather than handing it over to fate, destiny, or "God's" will.
2% of the world's population owns more than 50% of the wealth while most of the rest live impoverished. Yet, although power is in numbers, that 98% rely on "prayer," "heaven," or "Armageddon" instead of coming together and taking matters into their own hands. IOW, people like you are screwing it up for the rest of us who would rather fight that 2%.

It's not the belief in god. It's the part where you tell everyone else that your beliefs are the only ones, where you involve your beliefs in things that people who believe differently from you have to fund or participate in.
Believe what you want. On your own time & your own dime.

I don't.... I couldn't care less. I just care about my own (non)beliefs.
And since I'm not ignorant as believers are, I'm not going to try to convince you to change your mind! Believe in whatever you want! Your choice, as atheism was mine and MANY others'.
