good point. That's why the Church of the Bible refers to you personally. You, as a believer, are the church. It's not a building.

Back when I believed, I used to tell my parents that I felt closer to God walking out in the middle of a very bad thunderstorm than standing, sitting, and kneeling over and over for an hour or more every Sunday. If you believe, God is wherever you find it, and that isn't always in church. Church is good if you find a group of people who share your beliefs and values, because you get a really warm feeling of community and belonging, and who doesn't like that? If you can find such a group, great! Go with it! If not....well, if you truly believe in an omnipresent God, you won't have to go looking too far for it, eh?

God is not someone who can be felt in a specific place. He is wherever you are and He is in your heart. If you feel Him in the street, in nature and everywhere else, but not in church, it is likely that you are putting expectations upon Him which are not being met in church. In other words, sometimes we sense His presence the most while out in nature, without distractions and plenty of opportunity to think. When people go to church, they often expect to find God there and they build up these expectations that God is going to make Himself known there in some profound way. God doesn't live up to our expectations. He doesn't have to. He meets us where we are, whether in church, the street or elsewhere. Some people meet God in church because they are going to church to worship and to open their hearts without expecting God to be there in a profound way, but rather to worship, pray and learn more about Him because they know that is good for their soul and can be an encouragement for living their life. They may receive the added bonus of feeling God speak to their hearts or be encouraged by a message in a sermon or a song that seems to be directly inspired by God. Others feel that God speaks to them best when they are in a different environment.

The Bible says to not forsake the gathering together of fellow believers. That means to make sure you worship and/or pray together and receive spiritual encouragement from one another. It also says to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. It does not say that you must be in church when the doors are opened. It says to give yourself a day of rest and dedicate that day to fellowship with God. It says to receive encouragement from fellow Christians/believers. It also says "where 2 or more are gathered, there I will be also". You don't have to be in church to feel God's presence. Church is just a building made by man. It is the heart that God looks at, and if your heart is with God when you are in church, by all means, be in church. If not, then go where you feel you are able to commune with your Heavenly Father. God will meet you there.

If you don't feel that God is in any of the Church's where you've been then keep looking. Don't go somewhere where you don't think God is!
I'll pray that you find God more fully, hopefully in Church.

You cannot find God in church until you first find Him in your heart. God created all you see around you, but He is not in it. Be careful that you are not deceived. Ask God to reveal Himself to you in Spirit. That is the only way to be sure we're both taking about the same God – the God of the bible.

God is everywhere. He is in church. He is in the forest. He is everywhere. You should have been at my church tonight. He was there so strong. My feet are still not quite on the ground.

Read the Holy Bible, God says we should go to church. Pick one that goes strictly by the Bible and you will be in the right place.

The church is the body of Christ. If you're not seeing him in the church, something's really wrong.
