Lol-Do you know who Enoch's parents were? Cain and mystery person (most likely a sister). Since Cain killed Abel, he was cursed to live in the land of Nod (meaning to become a nomad) But then, all of a sudden, Cain had a wife and child-so much for being a wandering nomad the rest of his life.
My mom just ordered a book called 'The Book of Enoch'. It was left out of the Bible (I think) b/c it stated that the sisters and brothers had incest to continue the race but, by the time people started putting the OT together, they were already condemning incest, so it wasn't included. But, the 'Book of Enoch' exists.
Now, some think the phrase 'God took him' is evidence of an alien abduction. But I haven't ever heard that Enoch walking with God meant anything other than they hung out together and discussed whatever came to mind.

It means that Enoch was a devote follower of God and was in constant fellowship with God. Some translations and scholars claim that Enoch was literally taken up, still alive, into heaven to be with God. Hebrews 11:5 speaks of this. This is what is meant by "he was not, for God took him"

Enoch was a prophet of God, and he was famous for having some pretty remarkable visions of the future of the world and for helping an entire city live in such a righteous way that they were also taken up to live with/near God Himself. I think that if it says "Enoch walked with God," it meant that Enoch led such a pure life that he was able to commune on a more personal level with God, like Moses did, only perhaps even more often and face to face. There is a process called "translation" which has nothing to do with language, but it means that instead of dying, you have a physical change in your body so that you are like 1 step shy of immortal, and you "skip a grade," so to speak, so that you can leave this mortal life behind and live on a more exalted level. This is Mormon doctrine and you would have to study a bit more in-depth, but that is what we believe happened to Enoch, instead of an ordinary physical death. It is another example of how God and Jesus Christ have more power over the process of death than we as humans can comprehend. I assume at some point Enoch will be resurrected 100%, if he hasn't been already. In addition to the Bible, if you ever want to read a bit of the book of Moses in the Pearl of Great Price, from chapters 6 to 8, especially, it tells more about Enoch. You'd have to be open to reading books which aren't considered a traditional part of the Bible, remembering that the wonderful Jews kept all kinds of scrolls and books in addition to the traditional compilation or collection we as Christians have. Hopefully if you have heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls it wouldn't be much of a stretch to read the Book of Moses in the Pearl of Great Price as well. You can probably find some Mormon missionaries and ask to borrow a copy of it sometime. Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.

I heard a preacher describe it this way and I love it. God and Enoch were walking together one day. Just fellowshipping and enjoying each others company. They suddenly realized it was late. God looked at Enoch and said Enoch we are closer to my home than yours. Why don't you just come stay with me.

To those of you who are saying Enoch's father was Cain you need to look again.Yes there was an Enoch who was a descendant of Cain. But Enoch who was taken by God was descended of Seth not Cain.

Many Chrisitans believe that Enoch and Elijah, who was taken up into Heaven in a Chariot of Fire:
2Ki 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

will be the two prophets spoken of in Revelation:
Rev 11:10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

because of this scripture:
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

and Enoch and Elijah are the only two men mentioned in the Bible who have never died. Don't know what the Bible means to "walk with God" maybe like we walk and talk with a friend. Quite sure it's nothing bad.

Enoch is the original writer of GOD's word. He is the first man to obtain the knowledge of writing and was charged with documenting all he saw, because of the plan to destroy the Earth.

Enoch is Noah's great-great grandfather

Enoch was the son of Cain, Cain was Adam and Eve's son. He lived the way God wanted him to. He had to have been one really great person for God to take Him.

i believe when it says "god took him" it means that enoch died but god did not make him suffer. he "took him" without pain and suffering, peacefully, because enoch preached for god and followed god's guidelines. this was still near the time when humans had recently been created, so enoch needed to procreate. humans were commissioned to fill the earth (at that time), so it was more than ok for him to be doing that. walking with god means that he followed the path that god had laid for him, through commandments and laws.

Enoch was a man dedicated to the Lord. He was truly a friend of God, as God wants us to be. That's all there is to it.

Enoch was of the 5th generation from Adam

"walked with God" means he had deep fellowship with God.
why did he do it? -- it seemed like a good thing to do at the time (or at any time for that matter), turns out he was right.
