That is, if everyone that has ever lived has been reincarnated, would the current population demographic suffice for that?

[[Keep in mind, I'm an atheist, but am assuming the role of the Christian in this question, in order for it to be written in a way that people will easily understand. And yes, I'm aware I've already asked this, however, I'm hoping to obtain different viewpoints, by asking at a different time, when different people are online.]]

I'm not sure about the rest of you, but in my experience, every young child experiences the fear of a "monster" under the bed, or in the closet.

A child has no proof that it exists.
The child is afraid of it.
The child in question believes, truly and fully, that the "monster" is there.

Now consider this...
We have no proof that God exists.
We fear God.
We believe, truly and fully, that God is there.

Hrm...interesting.

When our children fear the monster under the bed, we help them to understand that it does not exist, and we comfort them.

But when our child fears God, we encourage it.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, read it yourself. Otherwise, noone is interested in what your preacher said, or what your churches dogma is.

I am so extremely depressed. I am 21, I went to school to become a paralegal but cant find a job, despite numerous interviews, I am overweight..but I wasnt always this way. The man I love doesnt love me back and actually asked me for one of my other friends phone number( this literally crushed me) We're not in a relationship and he just comes around when he wants oral sex. I dont have any money and creditors are calling everyday all day long! My hair is thining and breaking off, I dont really have any hope for the future. Im so afraid of ending up like my mother and aunt, with an unfufilled life. Its like I CANT CATCH A BREAK! i just want to be forgiven for my sins and move on,...but GOD is not making it easy. I thought he loved me...but sometimes i dont think he does. I struggle to stay on this earth every day in hopes of it getting better one day.

How much will you let them step on your toes? Where do you draw the line? Say your friend was going through a rough time and was constantly negative and was trying to make you agree with there negative views and this was starting to affect your self esteem and life. Would you stick by them?

My oldest brother is very nieve and is also schizophrenic caused by heavy steriods in his early 20s. He lives in FL the rest of the family lives in MI so we can’t really support him as we should. The thing I really need help with is the fact that he has recently told my mother that he is joining the ‘New Hope Center for Men’ in Fort Myers, FL (a religious group). Everything he has told us about this screams cult, as, he is not allowed to leave during his stay of a year and a half, he is not allowed to make or recieve phone calls, he's not allowed to have a computer or a phone. I can't find anything about this center, PLEASE help, my brother is very very religious and believe anything and everything anyone tells him. We need to know what he is getting himself into. I've tried to find information online and I cannot find anything. Please help. I'm not against religion or anything I'm just very worried. Please adults only need to answer this.

It's by my favorite contemporary writer, David Foster Wallace. Check it out:

"There is no such thing as not worshiping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship. And the compelling reason for maybe choosing some sort of god or spiritual-type thing to worship -- be it JC or Allah, bet it YHWH or the Wiccan Mother Goddess, or the Four Noble Truths, or some inviolable set of ethical principles -- is that pretty much anything else you worship will eat you alive. If you worship money and things, if they are where you tap real meaning in life, then you will never have enough, never feel you have enough."

What are your thoughts on his thoughts?

Earlier today someone posted a link...

http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/contra/by_name.html

that shows a bunch of places where the Bible contradicts itself.

What do people who believe in the bible have to say about that?

I mean, god is supposed to be perfect, right? So how can the bible be imperfect?

And even though he used men to right the bible, why would he use imperfect men, or why would he let them make mistakes when writing the bible?

Also, will I go to hell because I'm bisexual?

I mean, Christians are always saying that when Jesus came down he relieved us of a bunch of rules... and that we are no longer bound by the rules of the Old Testament.

So why do Christians always use the Leviticus verse about men will not lie with men like they do with women? I mean, either you can use all of them or none of them, you can't pick and choose.

Something tells me this religion is faulty.

to fund a chaplain leading prayers before Senate sessions? Can it get any more insulting? When will a Supreme Court resume upholding the Establishment Clause? It constantly changes with the makeup of the court, which just shows the flaw in the system of protecting the Constitution.

i know this is only required in the catholic faith, but will protestant pastors ever do a "confession" for someone, if that person just wants to get something off their chest, or come to terms with some sin they've committed?
