How much will you let them step on your toes? Where do you draw the line? Say your friend was going through a rough time and was constantly negative and was trying to make you agree with there negative views and this was starting to affect your self esteem and life. Would you stick by them?

I'm talking about a real world friend. I really really care about her but she's trying to force me to see thing her way, and that's only going to end up messing up my life.

When she becomes destructive to your family, take a time out or let her go...someone who does not have love and support for you is no friend.

There is a big difference between sticking by someone and sticking up for them.

I would stick by a friend regardless of if they were right or wrong, if I felt my support would help.

I would only stick up for someone if I agreed with them.

You certainly do not need to involve yourself in codependent and life draining dialog with your friend, but a genuine friend will not abandon another friend, especially in times of emotional weakness..I would listen, without allowing myself to be affected and try to interject as much postitive input. as I was able. Don't give up, or turn away...Be a friend.

WELL, I was with ya the first part of your question...but if it is effecting you...
I think I would really consider your relationship...
If you mean here on R & S...I will stick with them until the end...NO MATTER WHAT...
I have some very good friends here, and that means alot to me.

There comes a time when you have to let go, and let God.

I would jump in front of bullets for my friends. I don't have any friends that I do not love and honour, and my code requires death before dishonour, so, I choose my friends very carefully.

I would give them my testimony as a Christian and tell them how God saved me from a pit of depression and despair. I would give them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and take them down the Roman's Road. I would invite them to go to Church or Bible study with me. I would try to show them that there is a better way.

Yes.

That happened tonight.

I disagreed.

We fought.

And I lost my bestie over it.

I don't want to ever make that mistake again.

If they expect this of you, they are not your friend. Never compromise your beliefs and standards for false friends.
