No, and I've been both. With divorce, you can always hope for a reconciliation (although I never did). With death, that's the end. The shock is really terrible, especially if it happens suddenly and, as in the case of My Steve, by his own hand.

I guess it depends on the circumstances. If my spouse loved me very very much or I her/him I would certainly never want to become divorced, so it would make sense that it would be better to be a widow/widower since I lost my love for no fault of our own.

On the other hand, if we were at odds with one another and the choice is divorce the person or have him/her killed, certainly divorce is the only choice.
