The judgment that was pronounced was that the consequences for disobeying God is death.
This theme is repeated throughout the Bible.
The death being referred to is not the end of your physical existence. That is temporary.
No, the death being referred to is revealed in Revelation as "the second death"...it is the death of the spirit, and it is final.

If you mean the Adam and Eve story...not everyone agrees that that story is actually a blow-by-blow description of events leading up to the fall. Some folks think that it might be along the lines of a parable...a story told to teach a lesson. After all, teaching by parables is sort of the Lord's M.O.

I guess you're talking about Adam and Eve being kicked out of the Garden and all women will suffer pain during childbirth. Revelations also says 'On the day of Judgment, God will take the Book of the Living and the Dead and judge accordingly'. But, Protestants believe judgment is passed right after death b/c of John 3:16. Seems like it makes sense if you view it in terms of it was a rulebook to keep control over a group of desert dwelling nomads.
