Not only that but slavery and rape is okay according to the bible. How can you possibly call this guy a loving god? I'm serious. This is a very serious question.

Excuse me, but I have read the bible. How do you think I know about the murder, rape and slavery? It's in the bible, that's why I'm asking this question. For the person who asked, the god character condones rape in Judges 21:10-24, Numbers 31:7-18, Deuteronomy 20:10-14, Deuteronomy 22:28-29, 2 Samuel 12:11-14, Deuteronomy 21:10-14, Judges 5:30, Exodus 21:7-11, Zechariah 14:1-2, and gives a rape victim the death penalty in Deuteronomy 22:23-24.

This is a sick and twisted idea of a higher power and I find it sad that people are calling this a good thing.

lazyslacker, you are VERY rude. Not only are you making unfair assumptions based on weak evidence, but you are resorting to ad hominems, which is very immature especially considering that all I am doing is asking a serious question.

God wants proof that the lady was ravage in Deuteronomy, a lot of immoral people just fulfill their lust on open fields. She has to shout for help, if she doesn't she will be considered an adulterer.

Is God just? Of course He gave us a correct judgment...

I have not seen rape or other sins condoned by a Holy God.

First off, your religions time came and went little witch. second, think of it like the vet putting down a sick animal. When soddom and gamorrah were burnt there were less then 10 righteous people in the cities, in truth only Lot's family was good there and his wife didn't make it out. As for the rape, I'm not familiar with that in the bible what book, chapter etc..?

How many times is this question going to be asked before it's not asked ever again? If you're going to keep repeating something, at least give specific verse references of these alledged acts of cruelty. However, to satisfy your inept understanding of such matters, God destroyed people who themselves were guilty of the most pathetic acts of murder and bloodshed against the Israelites while they were in the wilderness. For example, the Amelakites attacked Israel within days after they left Egypt. Many young and old men and women, including little children and infants, were slaughtered by these pagan god worshipping pieces of trash, and God dealt with them later on. Personally, I commend such acts against people who did such things. What "rape" are you talking about? And what is your problem with a social practice which was much practiced in those days? Of course, I'm referring to slavery. Many slaves were foreigners who willingly and gladly "added themselves" to an Israelite family, and often stayed with them for life. Also, God Himself told the Jews to treat their slaves with kindness and equity. Why, whenever parroting these common atheist "concerns" (or pagan, or agnostic, or wiccan, or whomever), are these facts just conveniently overlooked? Stop merely repeating what the herd mentality constantly repeats. it shows no sign of capable and independent thought on your part to do so.

Just because you pick and choose what verses to read and follow does not make Him an unloving God. If you have read the Bible like you stated then you would know that He is Love.Peace

This is a very serious question and one that many people don't understand the answer to. I asked it many times because I couldn't reconcile Christ with this God who would have babies dashed against stones. So I looked up some stuff..and I realized many things. First the peeps He was dealing with at the time were inhumane to each other. People even responded loyally to their pagan gods out of fear. Mostly with human sacrfice and prostitution..the trafficing of children and such. So, you have the real God and He, by His divine judgement shows that wrath, anger, punishment and fear don't work to create a Holy People unto Himself. Meanwhile He irradicates the practices of paganism off the face of the planet and He does so without mercy...although if you watched the movie Apocolypto, you will see that He treated the non-israelite people better than they treated each other. To make a long story even longer but save myself the typing...let me just copy and paste a previous post to this simular..

Well, considering that He has given people more life than Satan I'd say...He can give and take as He pleases and as we are not terribly opposed as people to offing each other on occasion as it suits us, why point fingers at the very God who established our current morals for which you are judging Him. If he had not stepped in we might still be offering our infants to the arms of Molech and burning babies to death...though abortion is not much better. So thinking along those lines...and its between us, God and Satan...looking back through history at all the wars, the martyrs killed by way of religious intolerance, abortion worldwide, ethnic cleansing, and just plain everyday psycho killers...I'd say the fraction of people God has judged and put to death pale in comparison to what humans do to each other. However, since Satan has no power to either take or give life...he goes around and makes sure that we do the dirty work for Him...so your question should be...as humans....who has killed more for God or Satan. I'd say that Satan has been the bringer of death far more than God the giver of life ever has...we're talking billions here...Nice math work though..did you do all that yourself? Oh...I see..found it on a biased web site. Okay. Well, then I suppose you will be siding with good ol' Satan then...good luck with that. Love in Christ, ~J~

Some christians just cannot accept that the bible is full of evil deeds perpetrated and authorized by their god.

Indoctrination has made them blind.

Wake up and look.

Your god is either evil or a myth.

God is the giver and taker of life. Rape and slavery are from the human race not God. Rape and slavery are sins committed by man because of our fallen nature to sin

you are wrong....and i don't know where you got your information, but it's wrong. rape is not ok, and never will be. you are reading only parts, and reading what you want to read....my advice is to read the entire thing. you'll understand a lot better. also, if you truly want to know the answer to your questions, then ask God himself. i'm serious. he'll tell you if you really want to know. God is a loving God, and I know from personal experience. the God you are talking about, is nothing like the one I know and love. ask God to reveal himself to you, and if you truly mean it....truly....then he will. then you will have your answer.

God bless
