If you were to pose a serious question on the Religion and Spirituality forum, would you consider the perspectives of those who answer to be typical of society in general.

Would you trust this site as a reliable source for answers?

I think it probably does reflect the general scope of society....yes.
Do I trust this site as a reliable source....hmmmm.....no. I take
all answers with a grain of salt, average them up....and then do research myself....but there is some good stuff here. Sometimes what people say refers me somewhere that I would have not known before...so I do listen.

NO= I've found it to be the most angry hateful area on yahoo, I now avoid it with all the negative resentment from people toward those with differing views.
It is the furtherst thing from Spiritual I've found yet....
Religions are mearly mans different views on what spirituality
means to them, it's not or at least, should not be something of
controversy which only comes from narrow mindedness of those feeling theirs is the Only right way. The right way is that which leads humanity to Love of their Oneness and living for the greater good of all.
There is little Love or Enlightenment found in R&S and no
acceptance or understanding for the beautiy of differences that make up the totality of all that is ONENESS.

It tells us about people's true feelings but most of the people who are agnostics/atheists or irreligious probably don't show it in real life.

Ironically, ever since I have become an atheist, I try to tell the truth as much as I can. I don't pretend to be religious anymore. There was a time when I was all over the place praying and everything so been there, done that. Now I've moved to atheism.

there are so many different points of view here- and that's what i like about it...i don't know if it is an exact representation of society (and which society exactly? there are so many little societies represented here)

it is a reflection of the basic views of the groups that like to hang out here including:

rastas
non-denoms
spiritualists
wiccans
buddhists
taoists
islam
hindis
muslims
atheists
agnostics
jews
sikhs
jehovah's witnesses
catholics
born agains
fundies
etc...

but there are so many varied ideas within each of those groups...that's what makes it interesting

the point is... there is no generalization that unifies society, and that's why we are here discussing it.

imagine...you may say i'm a dreamer...

It does to a point, but it is skewed by a young audience - many of the responses are aligned with less education and experience (not to dis anyone, just where we all are at today).
Some stuff is great, some makes you wonder - but that does reflect society.

I would think that the responses in Y! Answers are reasonably representative of a large slice of our population today.
.
Sure it is "skewed" towards those who have computers & Internet and those who like chat rooms or BBs - but the "scary" thing is that there is a general disinterest in JESUS himself and in particular His return to take His believers up into Heaven with Him.
.
I know that if you don't believe in Him then its not your "bag" but I firmly believe - and I hope many will all at least research it to see for themselves.
.
When you're on a winner - stick with it.

Of course not! Think of how narrow a slice of the population actually has computers, an internet connection, and the leisure time to spend on Y!A answering questions.
