In today's news it was stated that obese mothers are much more likely to have obese children due to their incessantly high blood sugar levels.

Pro 23:2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou [be] a man given to appetite.

32 Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the "stumbling stone." 33 As it is written:
"See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall,
and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

Does it apply to Christians too? Are works of the Law pleasing to God enough to save you. Or is it a cheap imitation of the works of the Law of Moses?

Should women be able to serve at the altar? "Oh boy" was my reaction. Should I be liberal or follow what my grandfather had taught me -- how should I base my opinion? I turned to Scripture and tradition to come to a decision.
Tradition of the Church and Scripture are very important in the Orthodox faith. For Orthodox Christians, there are two important parts of the Church, the clergy and the laity. As in the living body, the mind cannot survive without the heart and other internal organs; the living Church cannot survive without the synergy between the clergy and the laity.
Jesus chose men as His disciples and gave to them leadership roles in teaching and spreading the faith. As they went from region to region, they began churches and ordained "espiscopoi" or bishops to remain in the region and teach The Word to the people. Priests and deacons were then ordained and taught the liturgical service so that cities and villages could hear The Word.

tired to join an organization not too long ago, an organization I had longed to be a part of,and got accepted, but didn't go on to fully become a member :( I know bummer.Well anyways, so a few months go by and I meet this guy, I mean he's handome, smart, a prominent leader, but he was three years younger than I plus he happened to be the brother and best friend of one of the members of the the organiztion I almost joined. We started talking, and there was some chemistry, but not enough to feel like I wanted to be in a relationship with him,(if you catch my drift)so he starts calling me late hours of the night, he invited me over, we got drunk, and had sex, I felt some guilt but we talked it over and he assured me that there was nothing to feel guilty about, he wasn't involved with anyone in the organization and everything between us would be only between us, so a few months go by, and we really didn't talk that much but we hooked up again, and I called him, he called me afterwards

(sorry for the long details) but yeah we were talking and I told him that I didn't want anyone to know about our sexual realtionship, I told him this because I didn't want people to think that I was a **** and put me in that category, and plus I told him that I might want to one day try to rejoin again, and he was like well, we do have a relationship, and in the midst of everything he was accusing me of playing on his phone, and all this stuff, but yet we got intimate, and we talked that night and he told me he thought I try to hard, and he started playing footsies, but then a few weeks goes by and I call to see if I left something at his house and he gets upset and tells me to never call him again and he'll tell everyone about our relationship, so now when I run into him, he doesn't speak, and the members sort of shun me as well,my question did I do anything wrong in your opinion and should I rejoin even though I might run into the same people, and why do you think he acted the way?

What was really crazy...is the fact that after he threatened me and told me not too call him anymore, his best friend calls me out the clear blue asking me to come to one of his events..and I'm thinking oh yeah" somthing is up

would we perhaps be a bit more kind and tolerant of one another without the anonymity of the internet. I think all of us should evaluate that.

twice. Not only that, but I've read other books, particularly the genuine Pauline epistles many times more than that (as a former Christian, I'm fascinated with Christian history). Yet, people who have clearly never even cracked the book open keep telling me to read it.

How frustrating do you think that is?

Relating to my previous question about fat Americans - If the USA is supposed to be a Christian nation and gluttony is a sin, why are Americans so fat?

I was wondering why the more religious the American is, the fatter he/she is. Why is that?
Example:
Noam Chompski – Atheist intellectual - Skinny as a rail
Jerry Falwell - Fat dead evangelical preacher - Fat as a walrus retaining water

Are you tolerant of it, find it natural, a choice, unnatural, a sin?
I asked this question before and received 59 responses; They were balanced in terms of support and rejection.
Just want to see what the opinion composition is like now because the 'regulars' at R&S keep changing.
Thank you.

if you do believe the world can't exist without the existence of some god, why would it have to be the Christian God, couldn't it be a God that we don't currently know anything about?

I don't know what's going on with me, I am a self proclaimed hetrosexual and am extremely into guys, but awhile back and lately again im having some homosexual feelings, I feel so guilty and it is never something I want to return back to... see the deal is I started thinking these really gross thoughts about a particuluar women, but im starting to think it is because she is a great example to me, and I deeply respect her but I have emotional reasons I dont know how to express it right?
Other than that I havent really experienced to much just like looking around and comparing my boob size to others, and realizing how beautiful women are but not feeling sexually attracted really, I guess I should be praying to God for help not asking strangers for help, but feel free to give me advice!!!
Oh by the way I'm a christian so I will never and have no desire to be a homosexual!!!

Is it sinful that I am curious about the church of satan?
I just want to get an idea about their beliefs and practices, but I have absolutely no plans to turn to Him at all.
I am strong in my Catholic beliefs and always will be.

I am not at all suggesting that we lift ourselves above anyone. We are all sinners saved by grace, period !
But for us to except someone who has no intention of coming to Christ is like having a Doctor who is affraid to tell us we are sick and need help.Or a Parent who refusses to correct or teach their children right from wrong.I know that Christ befriended sinners. But was there any of these sinners who didn't repent, save Judas the son of perdition.
Please don't read anything into this that isn't there because it is not anymore than what I have wrote. Please don't judge me, and then tell me I am not to judge.

Husbands and wives
leave your FAT wife (Husband)?
If your wife (Husband) becomes FAT, leave her (him)?
If your wife (Husband) is in a bad mood, leave her (him)?
Beat your wife (Husband) when she (he) is out of line?
Do NOT marry a FAT person?

I am asking these questions because I herd several MEN say they are Godly (faithful Christians), yet they have stressed their points about FAT women (listed above).
Please tell me where the bible says this? So that I can agree rather then disagree?

From the King James Bible, Hebrews 1:5 implies that God would never call one of his angels "Son". Then in verse 6 it says all angels should worship Jesus. Then it contrasts angels and Jesus in verses 7 and 8. Then again in verse 13.

However, I received a Watchtower magazine from a Jehovah's Witness a few months ago that taught Jesus is Michael the Archangel.

My question is, what do Jehovah's Witnesses make of this apparent contradiction in teaching between the Watchtower magazine and the book of Hebrews?

[ Brief answers, please. I'm not looking for copy/paste from watchtower.org, but hoping to hear your personal thoughts on Hebrews chapter 1. Thanks. ]

Ok I know I lost you at "pretend" but that wasn't the real question. My question is why did you put your defenses up so quickly?

Assume I was going to ask you to pretend I was God. A Christian may click this question assuming I am an atheist mocking their faith. An atheist may click thinking I am mocking their disbelief.

I already know that the question that is titling this post is no, you cannot pretend I am God. So if you cannot pretend I am God how can you pretend that God does, or does not exist? Your not right as an atheist/believer you believe you are undeniably true and right. So if both of you are stating your beliefs and both of you believe you are telling the truth, and one believes the other is wrong. I can safely come to the conclusion that both sides are completely closed off to the possibility that they may not be right.

Therefore even writing this post was a fallacy as all I am doing is making a point rather than asking a question....hhmmmm.
