if you do believe the world can't exist without the existence of some god, why would it have to be the Christian God, couldn't it be a God that we don't currently know anything about?

Many believers feel God is not a corporeal being , but rather a force or spirit. Fundamentalists reject this because they have spent a lifetime creating God in their image. They have too much time invested in this insane doctrine of theirs to ever change.

No, the existence of a "creator", it doesn't necessarily have to be one that humans conceived of so far. However, that would be a pretty good indication that this creator had no interest in knowing his creation...he is either ignoring us OR he gets off on watching us scramble around in a maze he created for us.

Neither of those possibilities seem consistent with the behavior of most "creators" we experience today. Most parents love their children and give them rules to protect them from harm. Most great inventors want some level of say in the use of their creation. That most companies that make a product give the users of that product instructions.

The "Christian" God is also the God of Israel and the God of Ishmael and three major faiths (Judiasm, Christianity, and Islam) share a history of a God who provided numerous instructions for people, a God who interacted with his creation, a God who cared enough about his creation to tell them about the dangers of their choices. If I reject the idea of a unknown, disinterested God (and if there is a disinterested God, why would he care!), then the Christian God makes sense to me because no other known "god" (creator) inspired so many different people to listen to and actually write down such a detailed (and accurate) "owner's manual" for the human machine!.

To a lot of people it isn't the christian god.

I was reading about Benjamin Franklin and he believed that all humans are born with some innate idea of a higher or more supreme power.
I still haven't decided how I feel about it, but thought it was interesting.

(sorry, I know it was a little off topic. lol)

GOD is GOD not somebody or something YOU think he should be! You don't just wake up one day and say I am going to believe in a god today.YOU FEEL HIM! thats how you know!Let me ask you this. would you believe in a god that people said ,god wants you to train children, that are old enough to know things, take this gun and we'll train you to kill Americans or your god requires that you fly this plane into those two big American buildings or a GOD that said I LOVE YOU AND HERES MY SON TO DIE FOR YOU ,SO YOU CAN LIVE ETERNALY WITH HIM FOREVER.Your choice!

Anything could be anything. Just use your imagination and you will make your own God in your head. I am lazy so I will stick with what I like. I am a Zeus fan.

Humans have conceived of hundreds of different "gods", but only one God has actually revealed Himself to human beings as a reality.

because we do know Him and we have relationships with Him .. Hes not an unknown God or a God that we dictate how He is and write it down in the bible ...He is a known God and those that know Him are pleased to find that what has been recorded in the bible is in fact true ..
