Are you tolerant of it, find it natural, a choice, unnatural, a sin?
I asked this question before and received 59 responses; They were balanced in terms of support and rejection.
Just want to see what the opinion composition is like now because the 'regulars' at R&S keep changing.
Thank you.

I am tolerant of homosexuals. It's not my life and I have no place judging someone else. I am a christian and believe that it is a sin. However everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of god so I do not believe in treating others differently. I do not think you are born with it and I do not think it is a choice either. I think that elements from your childhood and early interactions with people as well as viewed interactions influence everyone's choice and preference in sexual orientation. Babies do not have sexuality and it is something that is learned or picked up during youth.

I dont know what category that puts me under.

I think some people are more "pre-disposed" to the traits and characteristics of homosexuality, just as some are toward alcoholism, gambling, ect.

However, I do believe that is a choice. And a choice God considers a sin. Those who participate in the homosexual lifestyle usually encounter many more difficulties in life than heterosexuals.

This is a choice that someone close to me has made. I love this person dearly, and I do not try to "change" them. I just pray that God will send someone into their life to help them see That this choice is not what He considers best for them.

after reading all the answers that are here, I am at somwhat of a loss for words. Some of these answers show , at the very least, tolerance for the gay community. But the ones that describe homosexuals as "immoral sinners" disturbs me on many levels. I cannot stress enough to those "close minded" individuals who whould make such "judgemental" statements, How very un-christian like that is. Does not Jesus teach love and tolerance? I have read his words in the new testament many times, and I cannot remember one time in Jesus's teaching where he condemnd another human being for the way he/or she lived. If im not much mistaken Jesus spent a great deal of time trying to show those poor souls who had been cast out of society his love.

I say to all those who call themselves "christians" you need to re-read the teachings of Jesus Christ. Learn from his words and his deeds and try to be more like him. If ever there was a man on this earth who had the "right" to pass judgement on his fellow humans, It was him!! Yet not even Jesus himself ever passed judgement on his brothers and sisters of the flesh.

Being gay isnt a choice, and If any of you botherd to ask a Gay man, or lesbian woman if they had a choice, they would tell you straight up NO!!
Who in there right mind would deliberatly "choose" to be somebody that is going to be the an outcast and looked upon as some sort of freak? its no small wonder that so many in the GLBT community give up on religion.

ok, so i'm not tolerant of homosexuality, but as a true Christian, God wants me to love everyone, just as He loves me. so just because someone is gay doesnt mean i need to be a hater. i don't approve of homosexuality b/c the Bible clearly states that it is a sin. as a Christian, i need to share Christ's love with them. God can forgive them of their sins if they seek Him. and homosexuality is a choice. it is unnatural. if God condemns homosexuality, why would He have let people be born into the world "automatically" gay? It is obviously natural for a man and a woman to have intercourse. not a man and a man, or a woman and a woman. they cant! God told adam and eve to go out and multiply. note that they were MAN AND WOMAN!
so i tolerate the person b/c God loves us, and i need to show His love to everyone, but the sin is wrong.

I find it a part of the mammalian condition. The Bible speaks of homosexual behavior as a sin. It also says that if I, as a divorced woman, remarry, it is a sin. I have been divorced and alone for 14 years because of that. I have all kinds of empathy for any homosexual persons who are struggling to live an abstinent lifestyle in alignment with scriptural principles. It is NOT good to be alone.

I'll start by stating that I am a Christian. As such I do beleive that homosexuality is unnatural and that it is a sin. However, I hate the fact that some so-called Christians give the rest of us a bad name by showing such hatred towards homosexuals. I do not hate homosexual people, I just do not approve of their lifestyle. They are human beings nonetheless, and as such I love them. I also strongly beleive that the God that I proclaim does not hate them either. While God does hate sin, he does not hate the sinners. His wish is for all sinners to repent and be saved.

But this is my opinion and unless I am asked to share, I do not impose it on anyone.

I don't think its a choice (behavior is a choice, not sexual orientation), and I think its natural. It happens outside of the human race in a wide number of species. I don't understand why there is controversy (well, aside from religious zealotry). I think claims that it harms our moral fabric, destroys families, and hurts the integrity of the nation are just lies fabricated by some really hateful people -- those people are the ones doing the damage.

People are people and they are no different today than in yesteryear. What sexual preference someone else HAS is none of my business, just as what MINE is, in none of theirs. I'm not gay, but after 3 bad marriages, I serious considered giving up women until I found my 4th wife. Been with her 22 years and don't regret staying heterosexual. Judging from my bad marriages though, I don't know how anyone can be against gay people anyway when you see so much divorce amongst heterosexual couples. I have seen women with children from so many different marriages and men with the same thing that it makes you wonder why it is so ACCEPTABLE to religions to have couples jumping from one bed to another every so many years but NOT alright to see persons of the same sex together who have been with each other for years. One advantage gay persons have in society is that they are not in it putting out all these delinquent children we see nowadays who are so mixed up as to WHO to call "mom" and WHO to call "dad." YET, this is more ACCEPTABLE to the "religious ?" I "was" one of those "children" at one time.

The scripture tells me to hate sin and not sinners. That being said, countless diseases have been and are being created, mutated and spread by immoral sexual acts of all kinds. I find the general abhorrence of homosexuality by religious people while premarital sex is promoted or ignored hypocritical.

I know it is not a choice. If I were able to be a Lesbian I would be. I would be settled down with my partner for life right now. Instead I am alone. If a gay person had a choice, don't you think they would have chosen something socially acceptable?
may peace be with you
