Isn't it funny how people tell believers that it is not ok to tell people what they believe in or try to convert people to their belief, when what they are doing by saying such things is trying to tell people what they believe in and trying to get them to convert to their ideals?
I know this question has been asked, but why do people who don't like folks 'pushing' their beliefs on them, then in return tell religious people that they are wrong in what they believe?

genesis 1:9 - And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
however scientists have discovered ice (frozen water) on other planets in our solar system alone. doesn't this contradict what god had ordained in genesis that all the water be gathered together unto one place? how can this be?

I'm not trying to prove God here but would honestly like to hear what your thoughts are on this matter.

What do you believe initiated the creation of the universe and the incredibly complex systems within it such as biology/life and particle physics?

I was surfing the web today and came across www.whywontgodhealamputees.com. It raises alot of valid questions that i hadn't given much thought too. I did a search on Y!A. The question has been asked but not a single christian answered with anything approaching validity.

As the website states, god is a perfect being and doing the impossible is something he does (or used to do) on a daily basis. The bible even says as much.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. [Matthew 21:21]

If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. [John 14:14]

Why will god not restore someone's amputated limb if his followers pray for it in faith? Clearly its not beyond his ability. Do alot of amputees not deserve the mercy of god? Especially the ones who lose limbs to disease and accidents not of their own doing?

God is supposed to be perfect, therefore incapable of untruths. So why do these prayers go unanswered? Did god lie? Did jesus lie? Is it all just a sham?

I have a Buddhist friend who is Vietnamese. I am very interested in learning about the Buddhist religion but he always seems unwilling to answer my questions, as if he is embarassed of his culture or beliefs. I'd like very much to be able to discuss it with him but I'm not sure exactly why he is so unwilling. I don't want to press him or make him feel disrespected or invaded.

Is this common for his culture or religion or could it be that he is simply shy or embarassed?

okay so god didnt want adam and eve to eat from the tree of knowledge right? so why did he put it there if he didnt want either of them to eat from it? was it for somebody else then or was it satan who put it there?

seriously, it just doesnt make sense why you would put something there that you dont want anybody to use or get.

Sam Kinison was a preacher who decided to turn from religion and become a comedian. Some of his comedy was about religion. For instance, in one part he asks why none of the 5000 people so much as brought a sandwhich when they asked Jesus to divide the bread and wine. He also made comments about Jesus not being married, and he even made jokes about God saying to Sam, "Oh, you think that's funny? How do you like the sound of this?" after which, the "heartbeat" that Sam was thumping on the microphone--representing his own--stopped. He also made not so politically correct comments about drunk driving.

He was killed by a drunk driver. Some friends are telling me that this was a judgement from God. Does God really make this sort of individual judgement and pass a death sentence? How can I prove or disprove the comments of my friends, who don't bother to provide reasonable logic for their belief?

So for example, is "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" part of the First Commandment (Protestant, Catholic), or is it part of the Second Commandment (Jewish)?

Is "Thou shalt not make for thyself an idol" the Third Commandment (Protestant) or part of the First Commandment (Catholic)?

etc, etc...

The text makes it clear that Abraham spoke with Jehovah, in the presence of two angels (per Genesis 19:1). It is also clear that Jehovah appeared human (see verse 2). We can therefore safely assume He had a face and body.

Yet, Jehovah said to Moses at Genesis 33:20 that "you cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live." John 1:18 also states that "No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him."

Since Abraham literally saw the face of Jehovah, yet Moses was told that NO ONE can see Jehovah's face, doesn't this confirm for you that Someone else also goes by the Name of Jehovah?

B) With an open mind.

C) With the assumption that it is the accurate word of God.

D) With a group of skeptical non-Christians.

E) With a group of Christian apologists ready to explain anything resembling an error.

Obviously, more than one may apply, but some seem more incompatible than others.
