what was the reason that you chose him and do you think that he had to scare you about hell to get you to believe.

We don't choose God. . . . He chooses us.
I wasn't looking for Him. I was looking for a way to commit suicide when He came to me and gave me another option.
I had never read the Bible (I am a Jew)
Yet, God touched my heart and opened my spiritual eyes to His existence. It was a phenomenal experience that I will never forget. He showed me how to live my life the way He wanted me to live, instead of the way society wanted me to live. I have never been more peaceful. I was "saved" in 1979.
The Bible says that unbelievers don't understand the ways of God. . . . .so it's understandable why you wouldn't understand it. No human can explain it either. It is a spiritual thing that is impossible to explain.

I didn't choose God bc i was scared of Hell i realized and saw the truth of what he's done for me, you, the world. Jesus Christ had compassion for us sinners, willingly died on the cross for us to give us eternal life if we chose him, what a loving God and most never acknowledge it.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

i think people created god as a guide through their lives and they became self righteous and used heaven and hell as a tactic to scare pagans and atheists to convert to their religion. the end.

a bank robber also gives you a choice:
"get down on the floor now and give me all your money or I will blow your freaking head off!"
A kidnapper says to you:
"kill Alfred E Newman or I will put your newborn baby, who I have in my possession, in a microwave and post it on youtube".
Is that really a choice?
