How about this idea . . .
God HAS healed amputees. God does it all the time.
And just as Jesus instructed people of faith not to go tell others after he healed them, the amputees who are healed by God have so much faith, that they don't tell anyone.
They were isolated in their faith, they kept their pure faith pure, they've been healed, and they remain isolated in their faith.
A perfect God is answering these prayers, everyday.
Just because YOU don't know about it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
Just as a guy living in a mud hut in Sudan doesn't know you exist -- which doesn't mean you don't exist, it means he's simply ignorant, and basing his decisions and world view on his limited knowledge.
You're working under the assumption that because YOU don't see new limbs being restored it doesn't happen, when you can just as easily, with exactly the same information, assume that it IS happening, and you just don't know about it.
Godspeed.

God has a timing for everything. There is an answer to your question. the Bible says that when Jesus comes on the last days , Book of 1 Thessalonians, the dead in Christ will rise first, that means that all believers (with all body parts) even if it seems like there's nothing left, will resurrect. This might seem impossible, but remember that God made man from the ground, so I would not be surprised that he could do it again.

Yes, God is infinitely powerful and yes it is in his full ability to heal these people but the real question is, is it his will for to heal them. Yes God loves his children but everything happens for a reason, it is a said truth but a truth none the less. Bad things happen to good people, that doesn't mean that God doesn't love them or isn't there for them. And you said the something very important yourself " if his followers pray for it IN FAITH." You have to truthly believe God can and will heal you with out a doubt. I have seen healing, I have seen x-rays showing cancer and after prayers the next x-rays completely clear, and the doctors were unable to explain. But I've also see strong Christian people die of cancer. Scripture says Gods ways are not mans ways, and that the flesh cannot understand this. If you have anything you would like to ask me about this feel free to email me.
Gods Blessings

This is silly on a few levels. It's like asking why God doesn't cure diabetes or restore vision. He has a plan right? For everyone and everything? Then it's really for him to know why amputees are not awarded special treatment in the realm of abilities.

From personal experience. When my friend lost an arm because of cancer, I can honestly say I never prayed for the limb to be restored. I prayed that she wouldn't die. I prayed she would find the strength to continue fighting and to handle the loss of her arm. I don't know anyone at the time that prayed for her arm to come back. Maybe someone did, I'm not sure. I can only say that God doesn't lie and my prayers were answered.
God Bless.

Not everyone gets healed physically no matter what they
need healing of. God gave my mom a new tooth when
she prayed. That is not the same thing, though. I have not
known anyone praying for that kind of healing (an amputee).
The faith level counts a lot.
There are many reasons people are sometimes not
healed.
It takes more faith for that and also for raising the dead.
God does not heal in every circumstance.

It is often misunderstood that if we pray for anything we wish, somehow, God has to do it. That is not the case. God answers prayer based on His will, His characteristics, what pleases Him and what brings Him glory. If we pray for anything, God will not do it if it goes against His will for us, goes against one of His character traits, doesn't please Him or doesn't bring Him glory. Does God answer prayer? Yes, for the believer. But it may not be in a way we wish or in the time we wish. God is sovereign over all things, we are not.
I have seen this amputee question before and it is based on assumptions. Unless you have had contact with every amputee who ever existed, you cannot categorically state God never healed one, you simply assume it. When Jesus walked the earth, He healed many people, but not all. He did not come to heal us physically, but to heal our souls. The only reason He healed anyone was out of compassion and to reveal who He was, God. Yet, even though there were miraculous healings, many still did not believe. I tend to think that if God healed someone right before your eyes, you would still not believe, you do not have to capacity to believe.

This IS a tough question. I've dealt with alot of these things personally ... not because I lost a limb and had to be amputated, but because I lost the ability to have children at a very early age. Although it wasn't obvious to the world that a part of me was missing, it was something that I always felt. I felt like less of a person because of it. I'd read those same verses and wondered why God wouldn't restore that ability to me.
I believe that sometimes we have to go through adversity to fulfill God's greater plan for our lives. Its true, we receive anything we ask for in prayer -- but only if it correlates with God's will, and only if we truly ask for it in his name ... not if we ask for it without only our own desires in our hearts. For some reason, these people have been chosen to deal with this particular adversity. Will it help them to grow stronger emotionally? Will it cause them to be more thankful for the things they do have? Did they have to go through this in order for God's plan for their lives to unfold?
I can't answer, because I'm not God. But I can tell you this -- I'm now the adoptive mother of two beautiful kids that I love with all my heart. I truly believe that it was God's plan for those children to be my family. So even though I may feel incomplete physically, emotionally I am whole.
I don't know if this is what you would constitute as a valid answer. I can only speak from faith and from personal experience! I hope that I gave you the opportunity to see things from another viewpoint, at least!

You want some proof... God is not a magic man. Everything happens for a reason, to be a witness to God. If someone lost a limb, does one just die because of it or have the strength that the Lord gave him to live on and beat this thing.. all for God's glory. God has everyone's life planned.. its how we choose to live it ...even through cancer, sickness and loosing limbs. God is not a sham... you continue to pray through the good and the bad. God gives mercy but already you doubt that. Get yourself in a good bible and a good church and ask God himself to tell you what you need to know.. the answers you seek.

Sorry for the massive thumbsdown though I don't think I was part of it. You probably got something very wrong. It would be something like me saying that an Atheist can't be spiritual, when they very well could be, and it would set off a knee-jerk reaction. Your sources are very questionable (for instance, they stopped polygamy to get statehood doesn't ring true in my reading of that history. The people practicing polygamy were denied any citizenship so statehood wasn't really going to be withheld. That's not your fault though, but more whoever was teaching your class.) Alright, Joseph Smith was a prophet, and we have current prophets, but all of them say that Jesus Christ is our savior, our Christ, the only way we can be saved in the end. It's like saying that since Paul was not alive during Christ he shouldn't be considered an Apostle or prophet, and that anyone who believes in him don't believe in Christ even though he testifies in Christ. Our prophets do the same, they testify of Christ as the Savior... That basically means we're Christian because we believe in Christ as our Savior. The Book of Mormon is "another testament of Christ", it doesn't replace the Bible. If anything it should be seen as another testimony that Christ is the Savior. It's sort of like someone coming forward to say that your eyewitness testimony of what you saw is what they saw too, it doesn't detract from your testimony, it strengthens it and reinforces it. With Muslims, Jesus is a prophet, not the Savior, so they're not Christian. And Christians are not considered Jews simply again because the Savior is not considered the Savior, and because they don't use the New Testament. We use the Old and New Testament, believe in Christ as our Savior, believe our book testifies of Christ and confirms He was the Savior, the same with our prophet... Another HUGE indicator of the fact that we're Christian is to look at the history of the RLDS church. The RLDS church believed that when Joseph Smith died his son should be the next prophet, not Brigham Young. They stayed behind, moving to Kirtland if I'm not mistaken. Years upon years later, they ran out of blood relatives willing to be their prophet, and joined a Christian worldwide group. They still say the Book of Mormon is inspired, but don't call it Scripture, and they still say Joseph Smith was a prophet. They keep both these traits, but are now known as Christian. They're the "Community of Christ" churches now, and are part of Christian groups and rarely challenged on whether they are Christian or not, even though their beliefs are very similar.
