genesis 1:9 - And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
however scientists have discovered ice (frozen water) on other planets in our solar system alone. doesn't this contradict what god had ordained in genesis that all the water be gathered together unto one place? how can this be?

A. Genesis is about planet Earth, not the entire universe.

B. The writer of Genesis wasn't a scientist, wasn't writing a scientific text book and couldn't have written a scientifically accurate account of the creation of the world if he tried. He was writing in figurative terms, dude.

C. Why are you trying so hard NOT to believe that you come up with such flimsy arguments?

If I'm standing in the mall and I say, "All the stores close at 10:00," do I mean all the stores in the mall or all the stores everywhere?

Understanding the concept of a single creator of all things is difficult to understand. Not as difficult as thinking this Universe happened by accident, but difficult none-the-less. So trying to explain creation in relation to other planets would be really confusing. I think the Bible's written very well considering the complex nature of the Author.

According to the Jewish notion there were three heavens, the first being (a) The firmament, as "fowls of the heaven" (Gen. 2:19; 7:3, 23; Ps. 8:8, etc.), "the eagles of heaven" (Lam. 4:19), etc. Hebrew . shahak, rendered "sky" (Deut. 33:26; Job 37:18; Ps. 18:11), plural "clouds" (Job 35:5; 36:28; Ps. 68:34, marg. "heavens"), means probably the firmament.

The word "heaven" used in this verse refers to the atmosphere surrounding the earth.

it was in reference to the creation of the earth only, I think, it 's sort of like moving a pile of dirt, you say " move all the dirt over here" in reference to that pile only.

Just my opinion
